As a Cyber Security Analyst Senior, I provide support as a cybersecurity SME support to the Veterans Administration Office of Information Security/Office of Information Technology (OIS/OIT) assisting them through the Congressional Office of the Inspectors General (OIG) cybersecurity audit cycle. In my role as an audit review team member, is responsible for reviewing all cybersecurity related documentation, in advance of an OIG VA site audit, with the goal of assisting the site(s) in identifying issues in their cybersecurity posture through documented Configuration Management and Continuous Monitoring practices and providing any discrepancies/findings to the site Trusted Agent (TA) and/or Area Manager (AM). The site TA/AM coordinates with site personnel and, combined with ongoing discussion channels with the audit review team, executes remediation of discrepancies in advance of the OIG audit kickoff. I led comprehensive security control assessments under NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 4/5, testing federal systems within the Department of Veterans Affairs for compliance with cybersecurity standards. My manual and automated observations identified compliance gaps and delivered actionable recommendations to address deficiencies, instilling confidence in my ability to manage complex tasks. Reviewed and evaluated FISMA Security Documents, including Privacy Impact Assessments, Risk Assessment Reports, Contingency Plans, Incident Response Plans, Disaster Recovery Plans, POA&Ms, and technical scans (e.g., Nessus, enterprise discovery scans), ensuring federal cybersecurity compliance, identifying vulnerabilities, and supporting audit readiness.
