My role as a therapeutic foster care mentor consists of spending one-on- one time with the youth of the program. I spend 15 hours per month with each youth. I help guide them towards independent living. I help give them the basic skills for transitioning out of the program into independent living. I work in the community of surrounding counties, doing outreach to raise awareness of our program and educate those interested in becoming foster parents. During my visits with the youth, precise documentation of that visit is completed. Documentation is used for case notes and can be presented in court as needed.
