CAREER OBJECTIVE
To obtain a position utilizing my extensive direct nursing, nursing educator, outcomes management and
management experiences. I have greater than 35 years of variable nursing experience with the majority of it
as a Critical Care Nurse as well as greater than 10 years of nursing education experience.
SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE
Critical Care Staff Nurse
Coordinated and delivered skilled nursing care and analysis to critically ill patients in a variety of ICU and
PACU settings. My experience includes extensive work with cardio-thoracic surgery, medical, surgical, burn
and neuro patients involving use of ventilators, anesthesia reversal, ventilator weaning and extubation,
vasoactive drips, hemodynamic monitoring, continuous dialysis, aortic balloon pump control, and cardiac
transplant. Collaborated with medical and ancillary staff. Six years of my experience was as a military nurse
which included assignments both at medical centers and in deployed battle situations.
Clinical Outcomes Educator
Hospital-wide responsibilities. Responsible for educating new employee orientation for nursing and patient
care technicians every 2 weeks. Assisted in the development and completion of hospital-wide annual
competencies for over 1200 patient care services positions. Additional duties include collaborating with the
Clinical Nurse Outcome Specialists to meet hospital outcome criteria as well as participating in policy
development and revision as needed.
Unit specific responsibilities. Responsible for unit specific new employee onboarding (average of 20-30 new
staff at a given time period) and ongoing other educational needs on the ICU, CICU, Open heart step down,
Cath Lab and Cath Lab recovery. ICU is a 29 bed muti-discipline unit including medical, surgical, neuro and
trauma patients. Skills covered include ventilator management, EVDs, IABP, CRRT, Stroke management,
medication titrations, hemodynamic and ICP monitoring. CICU is a 6 bed cardiac surgery unit and open heart
step down is an 8 bed unit. Additional skills covered are ECMO and VADs, post surgery recovery.
Developed and completed unit annual competencies for all units. Designed and implemented classes specific
for IABP, ECMO, Impella, CRRT, CALS, EVDs. The Cath Lab areas require more facilitation with
product/equipment representatives to provided ongoing education. Assist staff at direct bedside as needs
arise. Collaboratively teach with the local AACN chapter’s Critical Care Consortium every 2 months.
Nursing Education Faculty
Full Time Nursing Faculty Experience
Began as NUR 230 course faculty team member. Anne Arundel Community College nursing program uses a
Team-Teaching approach. As faculty member was responsible for course, lab, clinical and simulation
delivery of content. Other responsibilities also include exam development and advising of students.
Since January 2013, became the Course Coordinator for NUR 230 and NUR 231 Courses. Responsible for
schedule development, organization/acquiring of clinical sites, delivery of content and active clinical teaching
for 70-90 students each semester in critical care and telemetry units. Duties also include the hiring, training
and evaluation of up to 20 adjunct faculty. Was also responsible for ensuring the overall content delivery of
the course. This role required significant committee work at departmental and college level.
For the department, I was Chair of the Learning Outcomes Assessment committee (since 2017).
Responsibilities included the redesign of learning outcomes, design and implementation of measurement tools
as well as analysis of outcome results for achievement and improvement of outcomes to department and
college-level entities. Included analysis of test writing within the department.
At the departmental level, I was member of the Curriculum, the Admission, and the Learning Resource
committees. At the college level, I was a member of the Learning Technologies committee, the EPC
(Educational Policies and Curriculum) which reviewed and approved curriculum changes in courses across the
entire college. I served on the main body of the EPC as well as Sub-committee chairs for 2 departments over
3 years. The most recent college committee includes the Promotion and Tenure committee.
Management Experience
Course Coordinator Position at Anne Arundel Community College. Recent management experience includes
the Co-chairing of our Re-Accreditation Process via the ACEN (Accreditation Commission for Education in
Nursing). This was a 2- year process, which recently ended with a successful accreditation visit from ACEN.
Duties included guiding the faculty team through the development and writing of the self-study report as well
as the collection of required data and documents in preparation for the visit.
Additionally, I have been an ACEN Peer Evaluator for 4 visits (over a 2-year period of time). Duties
included traveling to other nursing programs to review their self-studies and program for accreditation
purposes. Currently have a pending 5th accreditation visit planned. Have been nominated to participate at the
Evaluation Review Panel committee in June 2022.
Legal Nurse Consultant
Reviewed and organized medical records as needed for medical malpractice cases for 3 years. I
researched, interviewed and communicated with potential medical physicians as expert witnesses for cases.
I researched and presented to attorneys all medical terminology, medical conditions and treatments as related
to cases. Prepared formal documents and pleadings as necessary to obtain medical records.
