I am a SACAP (South African Council for the Architectural Profession) Registered Professional Architect living in Johannesburg South Africa and have more than 25 years of post-qualification and registration experience as a Senior Architectural Technician, Senior Project Architect and Project Principal Agent including extensive Project and Contract Management gained while working with various architectural practices in South Africa, India and Botswana.

I have a very good practical and technical understanding and knowledge of Architectural Professional Practice and procedures that includes Project Management in the role as Project Principal, Technical design and services coordination and on-site project implementation, control including the role as project team leader. I am also well acquainted with drawing up a comprehensive project specification related to the specific project to enable the project QS to perform a good cost and preliminary budget analysis for the project. I have at various stages in my Professional career managed my own private Architectural Practice both in South Africa and Botswana.

These Practice activities includes managing the Architectural Work Stages and documentation related to the proper execution of Architectural Practice management as well as extensive collaboration and coordination with other professionals on projects in the building industry. I am well acquainted with the latest and modern building construction materials and construction methods with the inclusion of BIM project management and design coordination management. I am well experienced with Building Contracts formats (The JBCC and NEC form of contracts and to a lesser extent, aspects of FIDIC)

I have extensive construction and building assembly and detailing knowledge for new as well as heritage buildings backed by many years of field and on-site experience on a wide variety of building types with the inclusion of implementing contractual procedures and management from inception through to project close- out.

I have commenced Correspondence studies with the Association of Arbitrators (Southern Africa). The Certificate Course in Arbitration.

The course consists of five modules. Examination of the first 2 modules were completed in November 2019. These modules, Module 1 comprising of – The Introduction to the Theory of Law and Contract law and Module 2 comprising of the Introduction to the Law and Practice of Arbitration. Current Involvement -

I am currently practicing as a Freelance Architect being self-employed with various private appointments for alterations and additions to existing buildings – These include the measuring up of existing structures to be represented as As-Built component for the City Council Submission of additional work. Previous employment with TKDS architects in Johannesburg as a senior project architect assisting with the roll-out of 3x school projects for the DID (Dep of Infrastructure Development) that included refurbishing of existing school building structures and implementing new classrooms, laboratories, and library buildings. These refurbishing works also included an As-Built component for City Council approval application. The works included the Coordination of all MEP and Civil works for the project. Also assisting the PQS with the outline design and materials specification in accordance with the client’s guidelines. Prior to being employed by TKDS architects I was self-employed and worked as freelance Project Architect for 3 years assisting Prosite Plan Architects in the role of senior project architect. Major project and team leader for the Johannesburg Riya Vaya Bus rapid transport system managing the implementation of new BRT stations and closing out existing ones including alterations to existing station units and public enterprise upgrades (pedestrianization) of certain areas in Johannesburg. Team Leader on a PRASA (SA Railways) project for upgrading and renovation of 9 rail stations on the East Rand Corridor that entailed doing an in-depth condition assessment of the 9x stations and prepare Stage 2 sketch proposals to the client and assist the PQS with an outline standard specification for budgeting purposes. Involved as Project services coordinator for 4x Sport and recreation project that includes indoor sport centers, sport fields, pavilions, art & culture center, Community Hall. Team leader and project architect for SIU (special Investigation Unit) SA projects involving office accommodation layouts and space planning and implementation at various locations in South Africa (all provinces) from Pretoria head office to Mthatha in the Eastern Cape. Team Leader for New Lecture halls at the North West University Mafikeng campus.

Assisting with project management under PPA Principal Agent at the Ford Manufacturing facility in Pretoria involving new buildings for blow-molded interior parts manufacturing suppliers “Automold” and “Aeroklass- Duys”.

Team assistant leader for the design and planning of 2x new lecture halls and administration facilities at the North West University Mafikeng Campus. Also included for this campus is the development of sketch plan proposals for the extension and upgrading of the RAG Farm area on the campus grounds. Team leader for the Upgrading and renovation to SANS compliance level of the 90-year-old Johannesburg City Library heritage building. These entails the upgrading of the firefighting installations, the updating of all the stair handrails to SANS compliance. The servicing and commissioning of the power generator. Other works included the waterproofing of the existing roof and refurbishing of the corroded and leaking rainwater gutters and downpipes.

As senior Project Architect with PROSITE PLAN ARCHITECTS (PPA) in Johannesburg – South Africa and was tasked with project implementation, delivery, and project management of 3 community type projects including 2x Clinics for the Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA). These projects includes a new 30 bed Hospice in Alexandra township, a Multi-Purpose Sports complex development in Jabulani in Soweto (field sports, Aquatic sports, and indoor sports) and a Day Clinic. A regional Clinic in Florida JHB. The completion and closeout of a Youth Sports Facility in Alexandra informal settlement area in Johannesburg for the JDA was also brought to a close. I was also instrumental in doing a Compliance Assessment report of an existing 10 story Johannesburg mid- City building in Marshalltown JHB earmarked by the client for redevelopment and refurbishment into multi use

(Offices and Residential) purposes. I was also lead Architect at design stage involving new facility planning and design for displaced people shelters in Devland south Johannesburg as well as a new Accommodation Facility for Gender Based Violence individuals and families in Orange Farm – south Johannesburg. I was previously employed for a short period by JOE FERREIRA ARCHITECTS - Pretoria – South Africa as Senior Project Architect assisting with various projects and primary focus to upgrading / refurbishing and redevelopment of Government installations – SA Defense Force (SANDF) Polokwane (staff housing – 150 single story houses and 15 3-level flat buildings comprising of 18 3-storey living units each) other buildings that required refurbishing was – inter alia - barracks, kitchens, warehousing sheds) I also assisted JFA with the refurbishment implementation of the SAPS Police services offices and 4-level accommodation in Cleveland JHB. This project was also a Heritage registered building requiring extensive liaison with the appointed Heritage specialist.

Key Responsible Areas on most projects:

1- Planning, Concept design, Design, Design development – Client Liaison – Local and statutory Authority compliance – construction assembly Detailing – Construction Materials and fitting / finishes specification documentation.

2- Site Management / Project Management, Contract Management with implementation supervision – QC/QA process control and approval – Manufacturer’s drawing scrutineering and approval – Coordination of services, designs and installations. I was also employed for 5 years with AURECON SA (currently ZUTARI) Structural Engineers as Resident Engineer at the STEYN CITY, CITY CENTRE

The project comprises of 1 of 3 high-end residential components in totality – City Centre 1, 2 and 3. Aurecon’s involvement was limited to City Centre 1 comprising 3 Phases. Key Responsible Areas:

Overseeing and assisting the civil design team with all aspects of the main storm water (extensive suspended launder installations) as well as surface water and subsoil water control systems construction and design implementation.

Overseeing most aspects of the Structural Reinforcing installations of Phase 2 and Phase 3 (slabs, columns, beams, walls, stairs, foundations and lift shaft including service tunnels) encompassing inspections and approvals of these reinforcing installations. Concrete placing activities to foundations, structural columns, surface beds and multi-level suspended concrete slabs, transfer slabs and beams for the project also forms part of the overseeing aspects that August undertook, all inclusive of ensuring that the work is in strict accordance of all the latest design drawings, schedules and specifications for the project. This all with the co-operation of the Aurecon design office.

Tasks also includes on site liaison with the Project Managers and Contract Managers and Architects coordinating and respond to RFI’s as and when required. Keeping daily records and prepare fortnightly quality reports, approve materials, issue of Contract Instructions, change orders and directives.

I was previously (2014) employed as Clerk Of Works by Sun International at Sun City Holiday resort complex in South Africa supporting AURECON Engineers with new MEP and structural installation works in liaison with LYT Architects and Black-Smith Interior designers. This project entails the total remodel and refurbishing (external & internal alterations and exterior additions) of 47 Prestigious Vacation Club buildings (total of 518 bedrooms) including reconstruction and upgrading and renewal to all services, data and entertainment installations to these buildings and each holiday unit. Other works included the re-construction of an existing building into an 80-seat restaurant and pool bar with an extensive pool deck area.

Key Responsible Areas:

Coordination of all new construction works and services and interior fit-out installations. Detail design and construction specification of materials and methods Site supervision representing the Str Eng and architect and Project Manager Change management and Change Implementation supervision and sign-off Quality control and Quality assurance with local authority approval and close out process. I had the opportunity in 2013 to be contracted as Senior Project Architect (General Manager) employed by Jindal Steel & Power Pty. Ltd. (New Delhi office - India) Some of the projects he was involved with included a wide spectrum encompassing New Regional Corporate Head Offices at Raigarh, renovation / renewal of existing office and staff accommodation facilities at various company locations throughout the country, designing of new Staff and Guest house facilities at regional locations, designing and implementing new Staff Accommodation units (single & multi story apartment accommodation types), Design and documentation of a Multi-media Auditorium of 2000 seats, Schools Design (Primary and Secondary) as part of new township development and facilities, Urban Design and Planning of new company townships for worker colonies at newly proclaimed company industrial locations. These included all infra structure buildings for JINDAL at new and existing manufacturing plants in outlying regions of India. Key Responsible Areas:

These projects included involvement at various levels stretching from concept design (urban design, planning and architectural), design development and construction documentation and detail design with extensive project management and implementation duties.

I also had an Involvement with various other projects as Senior Project Architect in the past number of years included the re-development and renovation of existing offices and retail of an office and shopping complex in Waterkloof Pretoria (Concept Architects). This project included a New 3 story office building of approximately 600 m-sqr at each level.

As Project Architect - Previous project involvement was the re-development and extensive renovations of a Retail Chain Hyper store Norwood Shopping Centre (P&P Hyper) that included extensive works to the existing parking decks and adding 2 more suspended parking levels for a further 650 parking bays. Storm water drainage of the old and new parking levels required extensive detail design input. (Johannesburg – Boogertman).

One major project with the involvement as a Senior Project Architect was a new City Lodge Hotel on top of an existing multi-level parking complex building at OR Tambo International Airport (Boogertman). A new City Lodge Hotel and adjacent office building – for Longland client in Fourways Johannesburg, next to Monte Casino complex, this development was also overseen from the start by me as Senior Project Architect

(Boogertman).

The design development and planning for the re-development and renovation of a Retail Chain Hyper store in Durban North (Boogertman).

Further Involvement as Senior Project Architect in the more recent past as Senior Project Architect, on a cluster development of Offices in Centurion (Boogertman). This project was in a low-lying area next to an existing stream. The project required extensive civil works to cope with the possible flooding threat. I was also involved with an Elite Office development as Senior Project Architect in Bedfordview (Boogertman). Also, as Senior Project Architect for Housing Estate in Trichard (Mpumalanga Province (Concepts Architects)

- approximately 250 dwellings that involved township development criteria with all road and drainage civil works included. A four-story apartment building of 32 units in Potchefstroom (Concepts Architects). Page 5 of 7

As Senior Project Architect and Principal Agent for the design & construction of an entirely new building complex and adjacent Office component for the motor vehicle, automotive assembly systems for Mercedes Benz SA Motor Company Vehicle Assembly Facility in East London (Osmond Lange) South Africa. This involved the design and coordination and verification of all architectural, engineering (structural and civil) mechanical, electrical and ventilation systems for the entire state of the art assembly facility that included laser welding stations and curing ovens for assembled and bonded vehicle parts. Botswana experience - As Senior Project Architect and Principal Agent for the design & construction of new Laboratories and Consulting units for BOTUSA (USAID-HIV & AIDS program) in Gaborone and Francistown, Botswana

As Senior Project Architect and Principal Agent for the design & construction of an entirely new building complex and adjacent Office component for the automotive assembly plant systems for Mercedes Benz SA Motor Company Vehicle Assembly Facility in East London (Osmond Lange) South Africa. This involved the design and coordination and verification of all architectural, engineering (structural and civil) mechanical, electrical and ventilation systems for the entire facility. I also have had extensive experience in Project Brief research, Project Brief development and planning, Building Concept design and Presentation, Building Systems and services design and detail coordination, Building Construction, and Implementation Management (Project Management) of most types of buildings and construction methods. These include inter alia medical clinics and hospitals, High-rise apartment and Offices, Residential complex and estate developments. Commercial complex design and development as well as industrial building types with manufacturing process flow line implementation. Residential building construction

(multilevel cluster & individual) utilising propriety Light Gauge Steel (LGS) construction methods and

“Shotcrete” (gunnite) concrete panel construction methods, commercial and retail design and planning, hotel and hospitality design and master planning, institutional encompassing secondary & tertiary schools with hostel accommodation components as well as medical training and research facilities. All the above mentioned project types were executed for the private and public sectors. While working in Botswana (1994 – 2008 I was involved as project architect on 3 Secondary schools while working with Mosienyane and partners architects. Other projects with Mosienyane was an 8-story design proposal for new headquarters for the Botswana Department of Architectural Services.as well as senior project architect for 3 secondary schools while working with Anderson and Anderson International Architects. Other projects involvement while working with Anderson and Anderson was various private house designs and estate development proposals.

I also managed my Own Architectural practice with involvement on the completion of a shopping Centre partnered with Osmond Lange architects.
