Hiring Committee
Jhpiego – RISE Ethiopia Project
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Subject: Application for MNCHN Consultant – Addis Ababa Dear Hiring Committee,
I am writing to express my keen interest in the position of MNCHN Consultant – Addis Ababa for the RISE Ethiopia Project. With a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Public Health
(MPH) in Nutrition from Haramaya University, along with over three years of hands-on experience in public health research, program coordination, and health systems strengthening, I am confident in my ability to make a meaningful contribution to Jhpiego’s mission of improving maternal, newborn, and child health outcomes in Ethiopia.
Throughout my career, I have been deeply involved in community-based nutrition and maternal health research, program implementation, and data-driven health interventions. I currently serve as the Research and Program Coordinator at the October Cancer Support Association in Harar, where I lead community-based cancer screening programs, develop intervention strategies, and coordinate with local health authorities to strengthen early detection and referral systems. I also manage a University of Notre Dame–funded research project, where I oversee data collection, analysis, and monitoring processes. These roles have sharpened my technical and analytical proficiency, particularly in data systems (DHIS2, Kobo, and Power BI), program evaluation, and evidence-based decision-making. In line with Jhpiego’s focus on MNCHN, IPC, and health security, I bring a proven record of collaboration with local health offices, data-driven needs assessments, and program adaptation to context-specific realities. My strong command of public health systems and knowledge of Ethiopian health policy frameworks equip me to effectively liaise with Woreda Health Offices, health facilities, and partners in Addis Ababa to identify service gaps, optimize resource allocation, and enhance health outcomes.
I am particularly drawn to Jhpiego’s integrated and systems-strengthening approach under the RISE initiative, which aligns with my professional goals of advancing equitable and resilient healthcare delivery in Ethiopia. As a technically agile and results-oriented public health professional, I am committed to leveraging data, local insights, and strategic partnerships to support Jhpiego’s MNCHN objectives.
I would welcome the opportunity to further discuss how my experience and skills align with your needs. Thank you for considering my application.
Warm regards,
Nahom Girma Belete
