SAFETY COORDINATOR, City of Columbia Wastewater Facility
Columbia, Tennessee
Helped create Safety Coordinator position after visit from TOSHA showed several safety violations. Established an entirely new safety program, where one had been left dormant. Developed a safety manual to use as a guideline for adopting procedures and training per OSHA standards. Implemented guidelines for working on equipment (i.e. developed work orders and lockout/tagout procedures). Established safety training programs for personnel, First-aid, CPR, AED, SCBA (Scott air pak). Introduced confined space training, Hotworks permits, and bloodborne pathogens training. All previous TOSHA violations have been corrected to pass the most recent inspection.

MAINTENANCE/OPERATIONS, City of Columbia Parks and Recreations

Prepared and maintained baseball, softball, and soccer fields. This included lining, painting and dragging to prepare for city league play. Set up and supervised weekend tournaments. Cleaned facilities and maintained day to day operations.

Qualified as a DAF Wastewater Operator as per facilities operation responsibilities. Involved in loading and shipping railcars and trucks. Worked with SAP access, bills of laden, calculation of load sheets and certificates of analysis. Worked with safe work permits including hotwork, confined spaces, and line breaking. Used various lab procedures as per duties of the job. Performed maintenance duties including pump repair, line replacement and valve replacement.

Involved in the daily operations of chemical recovery. Operated the facility from a central control board, using as many as five computers, as needed. Planned work on a daily basis. Mixed chemicals in a controlled environment to achieve desired results. Used charts, gauges, actuators, automatic valves and pressure relief valves. Moved chemicals from tank to tank. Served as shift supervisor for one year. Oversaw daily operations, planned manpower, and completed payroll, shipping and invoices for operations. Monitored the ponds and creeks on-site on a daily basis. Maintained consistent pond levels and the PH levels. Operated a water treatment plant to process the on-site runoff water to be released into local creeks and rivers safely.
