Health Plan of San Mateo runs its core IT on legacy Cisco UCS with VMware across two data centers. An assessment showed potential for better performance, resilience, and scalability.

The plan is to modernize the main data center with updated Cisco UCS and VMware, boosting compute efficiency and aligning hardware lifecycles. Veeam will serve as the backup solution, supporting both local restores and offsite replication.

For disaster recovery and long-term retention, Azure cloud services will be used. Additional Veeam backups will be archived to Azure Data Storage, and DR infrastructure will move to Azure via Azure Migrate, enabling cloud-based failover and cost savings.
