At Summit Healthcare I have been in all the above roles and most currently transitioned from the Point of Care Coordinator to Medical Laboratory Technologist.

Medical Laboratory Technologist ---

o Use established lab protocol to perform laboratory tests and correctly log the results of those tests in the proper LIS system.

o Determine specimen validity within the first twenty minutes of receiving the specmen. o Inform clients of recollection protocols if a specimen is rejected and reorder specimen for pertaining facility and or department.

o Identify, diagnose, and repair issues that may arise with laboratory equipment. o Verify all test results and ensure that they correctly matched with the specimen. o Label and organize all test appropriately to make sure that they are easily retrievable. o Make blood smear slide for pathologist the review red blood cell morphology and help diagnosis. o Set up testing for microbiology such as urine cultures, respiratory panels, etc, and set them up on the proper machines to run testing.

o Ensure maintenance of machines on daily basis and perform quality control and is working properly. Point of Care Coordinator—

Maintain competency throughout the hospital staff to ensure they are properly trained in all point of care testing. Point of care testing included iSTATs, rapid RSV/FLU/Strep, HCG, ACT and blood glucose. Point of care follows CLIA and our facilities guidelines for monthly quality control reports and correlations testing. Maintains monthly quality control, lot numbers for new supplies, and ordering supplies throughout the hospital when needed. Attending stroke and sepsis committee meetings to better serve and treat the community when in need. Working along side with technical support to build new test codes and create new and improved testing for the hospital. Lab Phlebotomist Lead –

Processing reference labs such as Clinpath diagnostics, I would prepare specimens for transport, prepare requisitions to match the specimens in the bag and make sure the courier had all the appropriate paperwork to transport daily. As a lead I helped assist the pathologist in bone marrow biopsies and fine needle aspirates, muscle biopsies and frozen section procedures. When assisting the pathologist after the procedure is complete it is vital to ensure all paperwork is correctly filled out, all specimens labeled accurately, and orderings matching what the physician has requested. Lab Lead included maintain overall process of the lab and attending to employee scheduling as needed and finding coverage when needed. Lead would assist physicians in ordering, answering phones, and training new employees. Phlebotomist—

As a phlebotomist my daily duties were to identify patients correctly with correct patient identification, obtain consent, draw blood in med surge units, ICU, surgery, OB and process back in the lab. Processing in the lab consisted of spinning blood down, aliquoting off serum, plasma, and citrate appropriately for the recommended reference labs. Adding specimens onto the analyzer for testing. Legal DUI draws were also done and made sure the appropriate paper work was filled out correctly and filed accordingly to our facilities guidelines and chain of command. Medical assistant/float: vitalize patients, medication reconcile for patients records, make and print lab, radiology and referral orders, assist with procedures, circumcisions, and other sterlie and non sterlie procedures that the doctors need assistance with, administer shots, record shots into the ASIIS and health matienance of patients chart. Receptionist: check patients in, relay and record messages with patients concerns and/or questions to the doctors and nurses, triage patients phone calls and message and forward messages to doctors, collects post funds, checks patients out, schedule appointments, initiate prior authorizations for insurances, send medical records that have been requested by other facilities.
