Dear Hiring Team,
I would like to express my interest in a Project Manager,Public Affairs, Team Leader, Program Manager, or Cross Cultural Communications position. I served in the Department of State Foreign Service as a Management Officer, General Services Officer, Consular Officer, and Public Affairs Officer for many years and I love working with people. I am also a dedicated writer, editor, and proofreader. I am concerned about word usage and grammatical errors.
Throughout my career I was responsible for supervising teams of Americans and local nationals in various embassy sections...sometimes multiple teams at once! When this happened I made Time Management my friend and divided each day to accommodate the workloads of the sections so I could ensure that all of the work was completed on time.
Before I joined the Foreign Service I worked in Hollywood television production for eight years with notable and controversial producers such as Chuck Barris (“The Gong Show,” “The Dating Game,” “The Newlywed Game,” and “3’s A Crowd.”), Marty Pasetta (“The Academy Awards”), Don Kirshner (“Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert”), and George Schlatter (NBC’s “Real People”). My hands-on experience in producing, videotape editing, writing, and sound design taught me the fast-paced rhythm and audience connection that strong broadcast work demands.
As a lifelong Public Affairs enthusiast with a background in both international diplomacy and Hollywood television production, I bring a unique blend of editorial insight, crisis-tested leadership, and global storytelling experience that would be a strong asset to your team.
I served as a diplomat in embassies across the world for 30 years— from Tripoli to New Delhi, Nairobi to Port Moresby. I worked as a Consular Officer, Public Affairs Officer, Management Officer, General Services Officer, and subsequently as Editor of the State Department’s Annual Human Rights Reports.
I am particularly proud of my ability to write clearly, fact-check relentlessly, and remain calm under pressure — traits honed everywhere from press briefings to active embassy evacuation zones. I am composed in stressful situations, make quick decisions, and show leadership in a crisis. I have been known to use courage, situational awareness, and the capacity to remain calm under extreme pressure such as when I saved a Diplomatic Courier from being killed by a lion in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo. I received an “Award for Heroism” for this accomplishment from the Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS) in the Department of State soonafter it happened.
Delivering bold, fact-based journalism resonates deeply with me. I believe in truth-telling with context, accuracy with speed, and storytelling that matters. I bring not only a passion for news and media but also global awareness, editorial experience, and a security clearance (TS/SCI with CI polygraph) so I can contribute meaningfully from day one.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I would be honored to support your mission and your audience. I look forward to having the opportunity to speak with you further.
Warm regards,
Anne Molyneaux
