I began working at the age of thirteen for the town of Somerset Mass. I worked at The Somerset Police Department. I first learned how to strip and wax the floors. I also put out the trash, cleaned out and painted the cells and completed all other daily assignments.
Next I worked for Bradlees Department store and Rudy’s Variety store. Once I turned the age of seventeen I enlisted in the delayed entry program for The United States Marine Corps.
Upon graduating from Joseph Case High School in Swansea Mass. In June of 1985 I left for Parris Island in South Carolina for Marine Corps Boot camp.
I enlisted as a guaranteed Military Occupational Specialty of 0311, Infantry. Once boot camp ended I attended Infantry training. School. I spent the next four years as a rifleman, Team Leader and Squad Leader. I was assigned to India Company, Third Battalion, Seventh Marines in Camp Pendleton Camp San Mateo California.
During this period I deployed overseas three times and attended many specialty schools. Such as None Commissioned Officers School, cliff assault school, Call for fire (air support) school etc,,, I left the Marine Corps with the rank of Corporal with an Honorable Discharge.
I then went on to work at Seaboard Foundry in Johnston R.I. for the next fourteen years. The Foundry was sold and eventually demolished. I started out as a laborer and before the Foundry was closed (well before) I was appointed as the Vice President of Operations. I was in-charge of the day to day operations.
March 9, 2003 I joined The Bristol County Sheriff’s Office as a Corrections Officer. 2004 I was appointed to The Sheriff’s Response Team (dealing with the major violence and medical emergencies). In 2006 I was promoted to the rank of Sergeant (Front Line supervisor). Next I was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant (Front Line Supervisor/Watch Commander) being in-charge of the entire 3-11 shift,
In 2010 I was promoted to the rank of Captain (3-11 shift Supervisor) and Assistant Commander for The Sheriff’s Response Team Commander. I was at this time responsible for the 3-11 shift at The Ash Street jail and then the 3-11 shift at The Dartmouth House of Corrections.
In 2013 I was promoted to the rank of Major (Assistant Deputy Superintendent), My responsibilities at this time was to Supervise the Watch Commanders on all three shifts. I was also responsible for our segregation area and the security and safety of everyone in the jail. I was also responsible with the up keeping and up to date records and training of The Sheriff’s Response Team.
However at this time I was assigned to our Homeland Security and attended numerous Joint Terrorism Task force meetings with the city of Boston Ma. Taking charge. I worked with the Boston FBI, Boston Police Department and Fire Department on terrorism and active shooters.
This Division also taught “stop the bleed and community response teams to many area high schools, colleges and senior centers. We also performed mock terrorism scenarios with many communities.
During my time with The Sheriff’s Office I attended numerous off site schools such as Tier One Swat School and developed a Regional swat team at the Sheriff’s Office. I also became a Pepper spray instructor, a pepper ball instructor, a chemical agent, distraction device instructor and a few more. I officially retired on July 10, 2023.
