This project focused on enhancing the efficiency and performance of high-frequency semiconductor devices by using Boron Nitride in a double-drift region IMPATT diode. The device’s structure (n+-n- p-p+) and material properties were analyzed through steady-state simulations. The study revealed that BN enables high breakdown voltage, superior thermal conductivity, and enhanced frequency response, positioning it as a promising candidate for next-generation microwave and millimeter-wave applications.
Responsibilities
• Conducted steady-state DC analysis of a double-drift region IMPATT diode using Boron Nitride as the semiconductor material.
• Developed and implemented mathematical and physical models to analyze electric field profiles and space charge densities.
• Investigated the future scope for BN devices in high-frequency applications such as radar, space, and communication system
