ESPERANT

objective: to gain valuable experience in the medical field I shadowed surgical oncologist Dr. Linsey Gold at the Comprehensive Breast Care division in the Unisource Health III building located in Troy, MI. I stayed there 7 hours (9am-4:00pm) and walked alongside her as she cared for eahc of her patients. At of their visits I observed Dr. Gold question and advise her patients regarding their well-being and reason for their visit, witnessed her do a careful walk-through of paperwork for one specific patient of hers regarding her current treatment and its implications, watched her talk with the collegiate assistants in terms of tasks needed to be done, and listened to her take notes, add on her to-do lists, and update information for each of her patients on her patient database between visits. We has a lunch break at 12pm and met again at 12:45pm to continue. During all of this, I asked her several questions about terms she used, why certain treatments were or were not working for a specific patient for example, or more about the the oncology field, and also for her opinions on different kinds of medical practices I've been eyeing myself. She was very conversational and patient not only with me, but with her patients as well. DOCTOR SHADOWING; INFINITY PRIMARY CARE FACILITY (MAY 11, 2023) At the Infinity Primary Care Facility in West Bloomfield, MI, I shadowed an internal medicine doctor (Dr. Tassia) for 3 hours (12:30pm-3:30pm) as she assisted each of her patients throughout the day. All patients I witnessed with her that day were comfortabled with me shadowing. During the time I spent there I observed the types of questions Dr. Tassia asked her patients regarding their visit, her workload in between patient meetings, the way she collaborated with her fellow co-doctors and assistants, several of the medical professionals updated information on for a certain patient on the database. I also asked her personal and work related questions that stemmed around her life in the medical field, to which she answered abundantly - Will be shadowing her again and more regularly starting this coming July.
