Staff nurse caring for Pt with mental issues from depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorders. I was responsible for passing medication, working one on one with pt that were having a crisis situation, discussing way to handle their situation on the unit and once discharged. Also delivering medical care that pt were also having with their mental challenges.
2017 – 2024 ICU Detroit Receiving Hospital 5R/5Q Medical Intensive Care unit and Medical Intensive Care Unit Step-down
2019- 2020 FEBRUARY
ICU nurse at John Dingal VA Hospital Detroit Michigan, I was employed as an agency nurse for approx. 3 months. Worked in the ICU caring for military patients that required more intensive care than those on the general medical floor.
2003 – 2016
I have worked on a variety of floors over the last 14 years with the DMC. I started out on 10ws caring for patient on CAPD teaching, monitoring and helping doing their exchanges. Proper procedure is so very important in any process to prevent infection and complications. Also caring for fresh post-op kidney transplant pt. I now work on 6 brush caring for wide and varied general medical patient. Responsibilities include mentoring, preceptor and reference for all the new staff we have on the floor, along with charge duties and assignment preparation.
2007 – 2010 St John’s Hospital St Clair Shores Michigan
I did hemodialysis for acute patients in a hospital setting. I was responsible for getting orders, mixing chemicals (that I use during dialysis). I travelled to treat patient at Macomb, Oakland, St John’s Main and Triumph (now kindred hospital), working independently was a big part of the job. I also did Plasmapheresis at St John’s Mores site for patient with autoimmune complications. Monitoring patients, maintaining all safety checks and contacting nephrologists with any complication.
2006 – 2007 Fresenius Dialysis Clinic, Detroit Michigan
Responsibilities include water room checks prior to patient dialysis, trouble shooting any accesses complications that may arise prior to during or after dialysis, assessing patient conditions throughout the dialysis treatment. Passing of medication and regular ordering of supplies needed for daily care of the pt. and maintaining of the dialysis unit.
2001 – 2003 Kindred Hospital Lincoln Park Michigan
Duties included 12-hour day shifts caring for patients in a long term care ventilator facility. Caring for patients on ventilators, antibiotic therapy and patients with feeding tubes with rehab requirements. The assignments were set up in a team approach where there was a nurse with a patient care associate; team work was the key to good patient care.
2000 – 2001 Preferred Health Care Staffing Agency
Job placements were at Henry Ford Hospital on the Pulmonary floor, caring for patients with COPD, CHF, and PNEUMONIA and ASTHMA including patient with a variety of other general medical complications. I worked 13-week contracts as an agency nurse, my contract was renewed continuously until they decided to cancel a large amount of agency contracts due to financial concerns in 2001.
1999 – 2000 Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart Indiana
I worked on a general medical floor where I received a variety of patients with Pneumonia, CHF, GIB, and chronic pain sufferers. Also caring for post-op surgery patients, doing dressing changes, pain management and wound drain management.
1998 – 1999 Thames view Lodge Nursing Home Chatham Ontario
I was hired as a night charge nurse in a county run nursing home where my duties included charge duties, staffing needs, wound care, passing meds and overseeing LPNs in their duties. My shift was steady nights which made me the only RN on duty, critical thinking, delegation of duties, prioritizing played a big role on this job.
1986 – 1995 Medical Assistant Canadian Army
As medical assistant I was trained along the lines of an RN, my duties included assisting with flight medicals for pilots, ECG’s, lab work, care of patients in the base hospital unit with qualified RN’s. I was trained in mass casualties, stabilization and evacuating of wound personnel, immunization for personnel going overseas to hostile areas. I was attached to 4 FIELD AMBULANCE out of Lahr Germany (I served in Germany for 3 yrs.) During the first Gulf War my unit was attached to 316 AIRMOVEMENTS out of Ramstien Germany (U.S. Army base) where we assisted in assault stabilization in hostile theater and evacuating back to Germany to other U.S. facilities for care or State side for more specialized care.

HOBBIES
I like to work with my hands, I do a lot of wood carving and sign making for friends and family. Also a bit of cabinetry, doing my own wood and carpentry work in my house that was built in 1935, filled with solid oak wood trim handmade doors which takes care and time to refinish properly. I am also experienced working with Arc Welding and Mig Welding making an interior floor to ceiling railing on my back porch and front 20-foot-wide gate for the driveway next to my house.
