Summary of Roles and Responsibilities:
I have been a registered nurse for 28 years. 16 years in the emergency room nursing, 7 years in GI Pre-Op/PACU and 5 years as a case manager in nephrology and ED. I am BLS and ACLS certified. I have experience working as charge nurse in the ED. In the GI department I was assigned to pre-op, post-op or circulating in the procedure room administering conscious sedation. As a case manager my role was to oversee approximately 500 patients. I was responsible for coordinating patient care pertaining to pre, peri and post renal transplant patients. I held classes to educate potential candidates about kidney transplantation. I had the opportunity to assist with the start up of a new free-standing ER. In charge of ordering supplies, the organization and set up of the patient rooms, nursing station and crash carts. In the role of clinical nurse supervisor and DON I oversaw the daily operations of the medical department in a prison setting. My duties include the supervision of RN’s, LPN’s, CMA’s, dental and medical records staff. Preparing for monthly audits by the state of AZ, department ordering, staff schedules, training and assisting with the budget are just some of the roles and responsibilities I was in charge of. As an ED Case Manager the objective was to prevent hospital readmissions by coordinating care from the ED or skilled nursing facilities, Home Health Nursing or PT, Specialist and PCP follow up appointments and assisting with Hospice or Palliative Care arrangements. Finally as a corrections flight nurse I would accompany detainees in the air to their final destination whether it was in the US or internationally for medically emergencies and medication administration.
