RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Cheikh Anta Diop University / Ouakam Military Hospital

Graduate Researcher – Advisor: Prof. Pape Mbacké Sembene 2018 – 2019

•Investigated the involvement of Cytochrome B mitochondrial mutations in breast cancer in Senegalese women.

•Collected and processed 57 tissue samples (22 healthy, 35 cancerous) and conducted DNA extraction using Qiagen and direct PCR methods.

•Amplified and sequenced the Cytochrome B gene; performed BioEdit alignment and molecular analysis using DnaSP, MEGA, and Arlequin.

•Identified significant genetic variability and positive selection in cancerous tissues, with potential clinical implications for diagnosis and treatment.

•Conducted survival analysis using Kaplan-Meier curves and studied the impact of microsatellite instability (BAT-25) on patient outcomes.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

DEPARTMENT OF DERMATOLOGY (Boston University) -- Bioinformatician

Boston, MA September 2024 – Present

• Designed and implemented a high-throughput Hi-C chromatin-interaction pipeline (FastQC quality control, adapter trimming, read mapping, binning, and contact-map generation) to integrate multimodal sequencing datasets and identify YAP-regulated ARPC5 enhancer–promoter loops in melanoma, successfully reproducing known interactions and enabling scalable discovery of gene regulatory elements.
