OBJECTIVE

My objective is to gain employment to utilize my 10 years of experience as a Delivery Driver/Courier and nearly 30 years as a Carpet Mechanic to fulfil the requirements of the advertised position. As a Delivery Driver/Courier, my experience is not limited to, but includes timely pickup and delivery of packages, mail, fragile and non-hazardous material to the customer. I am reliable and willing to come out and work hard whether part time or full time hours. While living in the Chesterfield area, I am very familiar with the Tri-cities and vicinity. I will be responsible for the cleanliness and standard maintenance of any vehicle I operate in the performance of my duties while observing company safety rules. As a Carpet Mechanic, I received requests for different jobs to install carpet, vinyl or laminate for the different businesses I had the opportunity to work for.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

In my duties and responsibilities as a Delivery Driver/Courier, I decide on the most expeditious and safe means of satisfying the customer’s needs in accordance with company standards, rules and regulations. In my employment as a Carpet Mechanic I met with potential customers to determine what they wanted me to do. First, I informed and advised the customer of what it will take to complete a job depending on what type of flooring material is required. I recorded the dimensions of the areas that need repair or replacing and then I set a time to come back with samples to assist customers in choosing the appropriate finished product (carpet, vinyl, block tiles (VCT) and laminate flooring. After purchasing the product, my next visit to the customer was for the installation process. Before and during the installation process there may be removal of furniture, removal of padding and carpet, then measure and cut the material to be placed on floors, steps, halls, bath rooms and basements.

COMMUNICATION

My communication skills are excellent whether talking to someone face to face or by telephone. As a Courier, I communicate with people from various walks of life whether it be for business or day to day interactions. I am constantly aware of what I have to do and where I have to go. Over the years I take pride in my ability to complete all required tasks in a timely and professional manner as was originally agreed upon. As a Carpet Mechanic, I received requests for different jobs (installing carpet, vinyl, laminate) by word of mouth, referral or assigned by different businesses I had the opportunity to work for. To name a couple, Northside Furniture and Haynes Furniture. I always called my clients, introduced myself, scheduled a time to meet, discussed what their needs and preferences were and then I recommended various options that will satisfy them presently and for years to come.

LEADERSHIP

With my 10 years as a Delivery Driver/Courier and nearly 30 years of experience as a Carpet Mechanic, I have trained and worked with at least 10 other persons. Being self-employed for a period of time, my number one goal was to present myself in a very professional manner and set the example of what leadership is for any trainees that assisted me on various jobs.
