Component selection to ensure they meet both lifecycle and reliability.
Full system development from requirements to release to manufacturing.
SolidWorks to design high quality and easy to understand cable assemblies.
DC to DC converter design.
Motor motion control using feedback or servo motor using pulse width modulation.
Test equipment experience with Bluetooth protocol analyzers, USB protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, meters, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, and electronic loads.
EXPERIENCE
RDSI, North Kingstown, Rhode Island
Electrical Design Engineer, 2024-2024
Designed an AC/DC dual output switching power supply and did the PCB layout using Altium designer. I was tasked to create Altium designer templates following ASME standards for sizes A-D in both portrait and landscape orientation. I used a spectrum analyzer and a very accurate signal generator to align both tone encoders and decodes within +/- 1 Hz. Another assignment I was given was to test custom transformers that replaced obsolete transformers and ensure they met the tolerances of the original transformers.
COMARK, Milford, Massachusetts
Senior Electrical Engineer, 2020-2024
Working in the product development group for industrial and military display computers. Debugged complex issues related to strict customer requirements. I used Orcad schematic capture to design circuitry that could not be procured to fit the need of the product. I utilized Altium designer to take designs from development to production. This included changers to connector alignment, and EMC compliance. Developed test fixtures needed to ensure compliance with customer requirements. Worked with outside design houses to ensure designs met specifications and were delivered on time. Debugged and enhanced code for the PIC microcontroller family using the MPLAB IDE. Assisted firmware engineers to develop automated test code for production.
IGT, West Greenwich, Rhode Island
Senior Electrical Engineer, 2012-2020
Designed microcontroller-based circuit boards. Debugged complex issues related to lottery terminal integration and product compliance. Redesigned circuit boards for obsolete part replacements, including firmware changes as needed for new microcontrollers. Resolved any issue related to site deployment. Debugged manufacturing issues on all products involved with dispensing on-line, as well as instant tickets. Performed preliminary EMI, RFI, and ESD testing utilizing state-of-the-art test equipment. Debugged USB, I2C, and SPI issues as needed. Wrote specifications for circuit boards, as well as products. Worked closely with international customers to resolve any issues after lottery equipment installation. Debugged hardware, software, and firmware to find root cause and implemented resolutions to permanently fix issues.
Developed firmware for microcontroller-based designs for the MSP430, HC12, PSoC5, STM08, PSoC, and the 8051 family.
Debugged Linux system integration issues on Intel-based platforms.
Developed code to position lottery tickets with very high precision for automated dispensing.
My experience is not limited to microcontroller firmware, I worked extensively with Linux and Java application developers on Intel based platforms to debug Linux, and Java application code to ensure they exceeded customer expectations.
GTECH, West Greenwich, Rhode Island
Electrical Engineer, 2001-2012
Designed and debugged systems and circuit board.
Developed extensive knowledge of GTECH products.
Used Viewlogic, Orcad, Lattice, Xilinx, C Programming, Visual Basic, and Assembly Language.
Debugged numerous manufacturing issues and implemented design changes to ensure quality and on-time shipments.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE
GTECH, West Greenwich, Rhode Island
Senior Design Engineering Technician, 1994-2001. Prototyped and debugged Intel and Motorola systems. Modified designs to meet customer specific needs. Testing and debugging of terminals for EMI, RFI, ESD, and EFT to meet agency approvals. Executed engineering change orders needed to correct design, obsolescence, manufacturing, and field issues. Designed peripheral interfaces and memory expansion, using Viewlogic and MINC.
