I was recommended for this job by one of my professors because of my writing skills. For this job, I mentored students from a beginning-level writing course at the university. I arranged groups, meeting times, went over the lessons from the class alongside my other schoolwork, and I made charts to report the students’ progress to their professor. I worked with groups of 3-4 students twice a week to help them review lessons and help with writing assignments.

I started this job at 16 as a host. I was moved up to a server a month into working here. I developed skills for multi-tasking, time management, and customer service skills. This location has always been very popular and can get extremely busy, especially on weekends. I was able to keep up with multiple tables at once and ensure customer satisfaction.

I developed the skill of being able to teach myself a good amount of the lessons for my courses as it was distance education. I also took on a lot of leadership roles in multiple classes for group projects. I would reach out to my team, organize meetings and assignments, and ensure that teams were on track.
