Sound Design & Composition Video & Music Production Studio Management - Broadcasting
Dear Hiring Manager,
Please accept this letter and attached CV as an application for the position of Event Production Engineer. My professional expertise lies in video and music production, sound design, music composition, broadcast engineering, and project management within the production studio environment, and I am excited to bring an experienced perspective to the ITS community.
The position caught my attention as it incorporates my professional interests and passions and would allow me to exercise a range of my skills. In charting my rise from an early Account Executive to my most recent role as Studio Manager & Producer with a successful company, my experience is substantive and multifaceted. In my most recent role with Demanaco LLC @ Microsoft, I have ensured the continual increase of production quality and on-time project completion while retaining an unwavering attention to the core values, mission, and objectives of both Microsoft and Demanaco. I energetically met the demands of overseeing and managing all matters of business including budget projections, timeline and deadlines, client facing change orders and solutions, and all details of staff schedule and management. Upon entering this position, I was tasked with co-leading the design and launch of a full-service video production facility enabling Microsoft to produce best-in-class video assets for global internal and external use. International broadcasts were a staple of our client projects, and I grew to love the fast paced atmosphere of pulling off a live broadcast flawlessly, even when confronted with many technical challenges. I was also tasked with directing creative teams, leading sound design and production activities, and ensuring the on-time completion of creative projects. As such, I have served in influential, respected positions that require strong cross-functional collaboration, quality assurance, production management, and creative production skills.
In addition to my role with Demanaco LLC @ Microsoft, I have also established a successful recording and production studio as the Founder, Producer, and Studio Manager of Ridge Music Labs. During this time, I have delivered artist development, licensing, music composition, and production services to artists spanning diverse genres while operating platforms such as Ableton Live, Pro Tools, Logic Pro, and many more. While freelancing, I developed experience working with video game production and trained on Wwise, Unity, and Unreal Engine, gaining invaluable understanding of asset application within gaming. We have also hosted and produced many remote and in studio podcasts and audiobooks here in the Northwest. As well and no less important, we have created a real education hub here at Ridge Music Labs in which students of all backgrounds and skill levels are training at a high level on their respective instruments and studies. I personally teach Guitars, Bass, Drums, Piano & Keyboards, Vocal Coaching, and Music Production training.
As a Production Specialist & Sound Designer with RUN Studios @ Microsoft, I often served as a Production Lead and Project Manager in which time I recorded and developed high- quality video assets as well as composed, scored, and orchestrated music. One of our flagship events was international live broadcasts that would regularly reach up to 100,000 virtual attendees. During those broadcast sessions, I developed a razor sharp instinct for producing complex live broadcast events and shows, with some truly excellent mentors teaching and guiding me throughout the art of live broadcast. In this time, I’ve become adept and experienced with Calrec and Tricaster consoles as well as AoIP interfaces such as Dante. Additionally, providing crystal clear voiceover and dialogue recordings was a given considering that we worked with many executive level video projects. It was my direct responsibility to interface with clients to ensure fast and accurate change orders to production assets, timeline, budget, vendor contracts, and much more. Beyond my professional experience, I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in Music Performance & Composition as well as an Associate of Arts (A.A.) in Sound Engineering, Acoustics, & Music Production.
While it is less represented on my resume, I have worked on countless records and multimedia studio projects in the role of producer, engineer, arranger, composer, and performer throughout my long career in the music industry. I am equally qualified and experienced in helping run a music based recording studio or school. As well, I have held many music and arts education roles at schools like Seattle Drum School, and The Music Factory NW, organizations like Seattle Music Partners and Seattle Composer’s Alliance, and non-profits such as Coyote Central and Music Works NW. I have ample experience leading and directing programming across all of these great organizations as well managing diverse crews and staff. I feel that this multi-faceted experience is one of my strongest assets that I can bring to any team.
Thanks to these and other experiences, I possess an essential skill set well suited to address the duties and responsibilities of the role. In me as a an Event Production Engineer, ITS will gain the value of an experienced perspective, commitment to quality, savvy music knowledge, and tireless dedication to short- and long-range success. I am certain that the foundation exists for a fruitful partnership.
Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to the opportunity to speak with you about my candidacy in greater detail.
Sincerely,
Trevor Lee Ridge
