Education
2014 - Current
Freelance Editor, Writer, and Book Coach
I left academia in order to freelance full-time, and since then, I’ve worked with both publishers and independent authors on everything from novels and nonfiction of various styles, on to dissertations and monographs. In the realm of nonfiction, I’ve worked on a wide variety of manuscripts both informal and formal, particularly in the areas of health & wellness, business, science & medicine, and psychology. I’ve also gained extensive experience working on more formal projects, including government reports and legal documents. I’ve edited hundreds of manuscripts, working on high-level developmental concerns as well as copy-editing and proofreading. Consistently, I’ve remained self-motivated and oriented to the smallest of details alongside the big picture, as well as a passionate supporter of every project I’ve been involved in. My Upwork profile showcases my success and can be provided upon request.
2012 – 2014
Assistant Director of Duquesne University’s Writing Center
While working on my dissertation, I ran the day-to-day operations of the university writing center, making sure we were fully staffed, problem-solving any issues tutors had, managing projects (including payroll/timesheets), working with advanced student writers, and giving presentations on subjects such as CMOS, APA, grammar, and various writing topics.
2004 – 2012
College Instructor/Teaching Fellow at Clemson University (-2008) and Duquesne University (-2012)
I taught various college courses, primarily specializing in first-year writing courses and Contemporary Literature. I also taught courses in Creative Writing and STS (Science and Technology in Society). I was responsible for all aspects of my classes, including creating syllabi, organizing projects, all instruction, and grading.
