Experience Began a private practice in Buffalo Grove, Il. I was the owner/ Psychotherapist. In my practice, I helped individuals with a variety of different issues as well as specializing in both couples and family therapy. Many young adults came to me with a duel diagnosis. Because of my many years of direct experience in treating substance abuse, I really felt that this became a very strong area for me. As the years went on, I also began to utilize my skills and education with Alzheimer's disease. I worked with the patient as well as the family. Conducted individual, couples and family therapy sessions. Treatment planning. Case management and documentation. Attended all staff meetings and weekly supervision. This was a promotion for me from the psychosocial Rehabilitation Program.

Alexian Brothers Northwest Community Mental Health Center: Developed a group for families and individuals with mental illness. Conducted diagnostic assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and expressive therapy. I began at Alexian Brother's as a scattered site case manager which included visiting the clients at their homes. Many of these clients had a duel diagnosis. I developed assessment tools and treatment planning as well as counseling and discharge planning. I was then promoted to the rehab program where I gave various classes including music and movement therapy. I helped teach about substance abuse and life balance. After my 2nd year I was promoted to an outpatient therapist. 3/1/98 – 10/1/99 – Director of Therapeutic Services / volunteer Coordinator at New Perspective of Illinois, Wheeling, IL. Designed and implemented all residential programming, ranging from movement, pet and music therapies to spiritual and religious support services, to special occasion celebrations.
