EXPERIENCE
JULY 2023- MAY 2024 & AUG 2024- March 2025
MA/ MOHS travel assistant/ Surgical Scheduler/ Cancer log coordinator
PINNACLE DERMATOLOGY A QUALDERM PARTNER
Daily duties included greeting patients and obtaining vitals, assisting the providers with procedures and tests while properly documenting in the electronic health records using EMA. I would work with other teammates of the office to obtain prior authorizations which are essential for patients to get coverage for their much-needed medications. When we would get new hires, it was my responsibility to train them on procedures we’d do in our office as well as testing their knowledge and skills for daily use. While in the rooms with providers I would scribe and document everything that was discussed between the patient and provider. Traveled to other locations when they are short staffed. Worked with multiple traveling MOHS surgeons for cancer re-sectioning. My specific daily task was to make sure that the patients needing skin cancer surgery were approved for site specific reconstruction. I would make sure that patients that had biopsies were updated with results in their charts and they were contacted if their results were benign or negative under the direct orders and supervision of the reporting provider.
DEC. 2018- AUG 2020 & NOV. 2021 – 2023
CERTIFIED- MEDICAL ASSISTANT II/ SURGICAL ASSISTANT/ PRECEPTOR
IHA DERMATOLOGIC SURGERY
As the lead MA, I worked face to face with patients regarding pre- and post-surgical care. I ensured new employees and medical assistant interns are professionally trained in their administrative and clinic processes that support great patient experiences and outcomes and exceed compliance with privacy and safety (HIPPA) standards. Worked in NextGen’s electronic health record before transitioning into EPIC. As an EPIC super user, I was tasked with helping the office with EPIC training and trouble shooting. I performed all the purchasing and ordering of all surgical and medical supplies, including the instruments and medications, while keeping track of all office expenses. During each visit I would go over wound care with patients and their families, offering extended assistance while at home. I assist the doctor during all cancer removal surgeries and wide local procedures. Coordinated operational and strategic processes spanning multiple teams and platforms to ensure delivery of effective, efficient, and patient-centered care. While in the room with the patient and doctor, I scribe for each note. Before staring any surgery, I obtain what the patients’ health history is, what medications they are taking, if they have any allergies, I take patient vitals (blood pressure, respirations, pulse, and temperature), and any other pertinent information that we need is recorded into the electronic health record that we use, EPIC. When working in our front office setting, I collect and verify patients’ insurance information, I obtain approval of insurance using multiple sites and answering phone calls regarding scheduling appointments.
