I co-manage an International Import team of 15 people which involves acting as a mentor for my team by managing daily shipment activities/issues, overseeing teams’ workload and processes, creating and enforcing SOPs as well as KPIs/GNC filing, training/delegating, interviewing, monitoring customer inquiries/concerns, analyzing reports, assisting in customers’ billing and accounting responsibilities as needed, developing skills of my direct reports, and completing bi-annual reviews. I also handle international import and dispatch arrangements for multiple accounts- coordinate with overseas agents to arrange freight, provide and negotiate competitive rates, communicate with customers and maintain customer relationships, gather necessary shipping documents, coordinate dispatch of airfreight, LCL, and FCL freight, engage with truckers, CFS’s, airlines, and steamship lines via phone and email, resolve issues with holds/exams, and update internal systems with data milestones.
