PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Senior Storage Engineer Optimal Solutions
Aug 2024 – Present Chantilly, Virginia
Managing a multi vendor storage environment supporting DISA. HP XP8s and Primeras for block virtual storage. Netapp AFF-400, FAS8300 and Isilons for NAS. Brocades for core to edge switch configuration. Cloudian solution for block storage. Troubleshooting, root cause analysis, performance tuning and task automation of all SAN and high availability assets.
Senior Storage Virtualization Engineer Iron Bow
Jan 2023 – Sept 2023 Herndon, Virginia
Implemented and managed a multi PB data migration moving data and environment from Cisco UCS blades with Netapp storage to a new HPE Greenlake solution environment comprising HPE Synergy blades, HPE Primera storage and Racktop Brickstors as the NAS heads. The environment is iscsi through Nexus switches. Recovery Management Center (RMC) is used as the SNAP backup solution. Datadobi and Komprise were being used to migrate the data.
Key Achievements
Learned all the hardware and software contained in the environment. Working hand in hand with the sales and deployment teams on migration tasks.
Preparing the environment for production operations switchover and continued normal operations.
Troubleshooting, root cause analysis, performance tuning and task automation SAN, storage virtualization and migration assets.
Senior Storage Engineer Prism
Jan 2018 – Aug 2022 Reston, Virginia
Managed a 3 PB DELL/EMC VPLEX V6 Metro cluster, with VPLEX Witness, for the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Performed storage management for VMware/vSphere environment that supported Cisco UCS and HP C7000 clusters hosting Windows and UNIX hosts. Capacity management for two DELL/EMC VMAX3 400K arrays and a VMAX3 100K array. Management of redundant Cisco MDS9710 multilayer director switches located at two datacenters. Supported backup solution using Netbackup, Data Domain and AWS S3 cloud storage. Troubleshooting, root cause analysis, performance tuning and task automation of all SAN and high availability assets. Work with team to migrate applications to Azure hybrid cloud configuration.
Key Achievements
Successfully met the 100% uptime SLA requirement in managing the CFTC SAN environments totaling 3 Petabytes of raw storage. These consist of Core configuration using MDS9710 director switches to distribute FC network storage from two VMAX3 400Ks and a VMAX3 100K arrays at two datacenters.
Migration of RDMs connected to VMs from VMAX400K to VMAX100K using Open Replicator.
Achieved a smooth port configuration changes and zoning transitions in support of the Cisco UCS hardware refresh. This enabled a smooth refresh without hitch or delay due to SAN related resources.
Senior Storage Engineer Maerandar Tech Solutions LLC
Sept.2016 – Jan 2018 Alexandria, Virginia
I worked on several business development initiatives towards IT service solutions development. I continually refreshed on new products and solutions using EMC Education Services.
Senior Storage Engineer Sabre Systems
Sept 2014 – Aug 2016 Lexington Park, Maryland
Supported Dept. NAVY in managing multivendor storage arrays at NAVAIR. Managed three HP9500 arrays in a, tightly constrained, thin provisioned environment. I also manageged Tagma 9990, AMS2300 and AMS2500 storage using Hitachi Command Suite. Environment required block and NAS configuration. We implemented Netbackup and DataDomain as a backup solution using disk and tape resources. Utilized HP Storage Essentials for trending and root cause analysis on performance issues. Configured and managed a DEV/UAT environment of HP EVA storage.
Key Achievements
Successfully met the 100% uptime SLA requirement in managing the NAVY NAVAIR ERP and Corporate SAN environments totaling 2 Petabytes of raw storage. These consist of Core-Edge configuration using Brocade DCX, 6510, Brocade 5300 Edge switches and Cisco NEXUS switches to distribute FC and converged network storage from HP P9500s, USP Tagma 9990, AMS2500s and AMS2300 storage arrays.
Achieved a smooth storage migration from Tagma 9990 to HP P9500. Orchestrated several phases of LDEV migrations using Auto LUN to move from RAID5 (5+1) to RAID6 (14+2). This gained the organization 20% usable storage in several over provisioned storage pools, along with high availability and performance gains.
Senior Storage Engineer Intelligent Decisions
Aug 2011 – January 2014 Ashburn, Virginia
Architected and managed the OJP DELL/EMC SAN environments at 3 DOJ datacenters. Advised and implemented strategies for DR, SAN migration, capacity management and performance for a combination block and NAS environment. I managed Netbackup, Networker, and DataDomain; for block and (NDMP) data backups. Duties included augmenting the UNIX team as a senior Solaris (9/10) administrator.
Key Achievements
Met SLA requirements in managing the DOJ OJP DELL/EMC SAN (NAS and Block) storage environments. This consisted of a development site hosting a Celerra NS-480, CX-700 and AX-4; a production site hosting a VNX 5700, Celerra NS-480 and CX-700; a DR/secondary site hosting a VNX5700 and Celerra NS-480. Total storage of 1.4 Petabyte raw. Brocade DS4100B, DS5100B and DS5300B switches were used in the environments.
Established a high availability configuration for the Local and remote DR solution using Celerra Replicator for CIFS data and RecoverPoint for block data.
Delivered executive level monthly performance reports and process improvement ideas.
Successfully migrated CX700 to NS480 at three datacenters and NS480 to VNX5700 at two datacenters with 100% uptime achieved.
