Military Service

Branch: United States Navy

Service Country: United States

Rank: E-5

August 1999 to November 2003

I was an Operation Specialist and ESWS Qualified. Served and was out to see during 911 which happened while we were out on our six month deployment. I also, served as a Search and Rescue Swimmer onboard the USS Stout DDG 55 which is an Ageis Class Missile Guided Destroyer and would have to utilize my SAR training to save crew members during Operation Southern Watch where we would escort Pakistani Oil Tankers into the UAE and board their vessel to ensure they weren’t smuggling oil. As an OS, I would have to stare at and read radars to identify “Friend” or “Foe” amongst the surface. Air and subsurface vessels that were in our vicinity. I would also work as an AIC (Air Intercept Control), where I would talk with the pilots who were Lieutenants and Captains that were flying the SH60-BRAVO helicopters. I would have to plot and transmit precise coordinates to let them know where to drop Sonobuoys in the water to track subs, during subsurface warfare exercises. One of the biggest highlights was when I had received my official orders in February 2002 to go to Coronado, CA where I would have my opportunity to train to become one of the elites, a NAVY SEAL… However, by that time which was unfortunately bad timing, I was ready to get out and and move on as a civilian.
