'84 – ‘98 system engineer for TS SAR simulator F117A WST [FAA FTD Level 7]; ready for training 99.997 12 years. Certified in ‘87 by Silicon Graphics Inc. as an IRIX/Unix System Administrator. In 97 the site manager asks if I would pick up an inherited one-year backlog of Visual/IR data scenes that threatened a $10,000/day fine, for failure to perform. Though outside my job description, I accepted the challenging request to ‘fix it’ before EOY. Out-of-the-box remedy; alter the design process and delivery timetable, expand the resource pools, and streamline the VR process. Train 1 novice and an existing associate modeler & together the designers, and I delivered all backlogged VR scenes, a scheduled new VR scene, plus one ‘bonus’ scene; providing competent team members, a year+ of Virtual Reality on a new to everyone system, all in 45 days: per the challenge. The senior designer was promoted to SSC Lead on my departure. Could not have done this without the team of certified designers' help, the support of AFQARs, and the company allowing crazy scheduling, and the liberty to change the rules. In time both modelers became software support leaders. This is one of my favorite endeavors, inculcating these skills gave nice results for them; loved that.
