PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

GEICO, Chevy Chase, MD September 2019 – September 2024 Senior Software Engineer

Designed, developed, and maintained cloud-based (MS Azure AKS) .NET MVC Web apps and WebAPI Services, C# APIs, SQL Server back end, designed and implemented advanced jQuery SPA with MS SAML Single sign-on.

• Created and maintained applications acting as an intelligent data exchange layer between GEICO internal departments and external LexisNexis and Explore vendors.

• Our applications allowed to deduplicate and send hundreds of Web API requests per second to vendors, to get back Motor Vehicle (MVRs) and Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange (CLUE) reports, store in SQL databases, reconcile and map data, and feed it to GEICO departments.

• Spearheaded SimMC .NET application that generated MVR and CLUE reports to train GEICO Sales. SimMC produced consistent simulated LexisNexis reports with correct US States driver licenses.

• Implemented SimMC UI as user-friendly jQuery-based SPA, which enforced consistency of user data. SimMC replaced the work of several GEICO analysts and saved hundreds of thousands of dollars for GEICO.

• Rewrote from scratch the large GEICO MVR application converting from old .NET Framework to .NET 8 Core. Improved consistency and reliability and added proper error handling.

• Converted SimMC application from .NET Framework to .NET 8 Core, to run under cheaper AKS and to continue Microsoft support. Fixed compatibility with GEICO client apps.

• Replaced SQL Agent Jobs with .NET Background Tasks to consolidate functionality of data archiving and reconciliation.

Everbridge / PlanetRisk / iMapData, Mclean, VA October 2013 – July 2019 Software Developer

Designed, developed, and maintained SaaS .NET Web applications and Web Services, with JavaScript / AngularJS front- end, Bing/ESRI/HERE maps, SignalR Push Notifications; implemented SAML Single sign-on, developed integrated XMPP chat with Openfire and ejabberd servers. • Transformed monolithic Incident Management Service (IMS) ASP.NET web application into a single-page front end and WebAPI web services protected by OAuth 2.0.

• Participated in securing web applications, removed sensitive data from being passed through URLs, proper authentication and authorization of .NET pages.

• Implemented SAML-based Single sign-on functionality with IMS as Service Provider and Everbridge clients as Identity Providers, allowing users of Everbridge clients to automatically log into IMS.

• Replaced timer-based IMS notifications with SignalR push notifications.

• Led development of XMPP chat with Openfire and then with ejabberd backend servers, integrated into Everbridge Incident Management System (IMS) web application.

• Developed the front-end of Incident Manager application using Angular framework.

• Designed and developed DateTimeZone web service based on NodaTime, allowing to determine full IANA / TZ time zone information (offset, DST, full zone name, etc.) from a combination of local time and latitude / longitude. That ensured date/time/zone consistency of the global IMS data.

Computing Technologies, Inc. (CoTs), Fairfax, VA April 2005 – June 2013 Software Engineer

Designed and developed the new ASP.NET version of CoTs Intranet while maintaining the legacy Intranet in ASP.

• Designed new modules, enhanced database structure, and developed dynamic client-side interface using Ajax. Spearheaded development of structured, domain-driven design of CoTs Intranet. Applied functional programming – extension methods, lambda expressions, LINQ.

• Developed a technique for secure data exchange between ASP.NET and legacy ASP pages. Led development of a custom single sign-on module for CoTs Intranet.

• Introduced a structured approach of reusable functions located in ASP include files to maintain legacy codebase.

• Pioneered a custom permission system for intranet that made it easy to maintain CoTs Intranet permissions. Recognized with CoTs Employee of The Quarter Award. Enterprise Database Corp., Manassas, VA October 2003 – February 2005 Programmer/Analyst
