PROJECT EXPERIENCE
AIAA Space Mission Design Team of 6: Design a science mission on Venus that combines robotic and
crew interactions to optimize quantity and quality of collected data.
Researched workable propulsion systems for in-atmosphere travel.
Optimized available power and weight to recommend a propulsion system using electric motors.
Advised on integration methods for incorporating propulsion systems with other subsystems such as Power and Structure.
PI Controller Project Individual Project: Create a controller using proportional and integral gains (PI) to achieve smooth position changes of a payload using a hydraulic system.
Used customer criteria to successfully create an appropriate transfer function.
Created a closed-loop block diagram in MATLAB Simulink using PI gains and the transfer function.
Fine-tuned controller in MATLAB Simulink to achieve smoother motion according to customer criteria.
Analysis of Locations of Greatest Stress on a Wrench Individual Project: Find the locations of greatest stress on a wrench given a certain force distribution applied at the handle.
Applied an offset plane to the base plane of the imported SOLIDWORKS wrench model.
Inputted the proper forces and boundary conditions on the wrench model.
Located the places of greatest stress in the wrench model using a von Mises stress gradient in ANSYS Workbench.
Automotive Design Project Team of 3: Design a multi-segmented shaft that would sustain a motor-driven torque and a specified critical speed without failing.
Researched and identified proper equations for design including torque, frequency, and critical speed.
Organized data using Microsoft Excel and MS Excel Solver to identify diameters necessary to reach above critical speed.
Iterated through several values of fillet radii and diameters to ensure minimal stress concentrations at section intersections and reduce deformation, respectively.
