In this role I wrote technical manuals for Army, Air Force, Navy, and Intelligence community. I would work from provided schematics, create hierarchal technical drawings, partition the technology into blocks, and generate theory of operations, how to use, how to repair, how to maintain, and how to transport the military equipment. I also wrote ATLAS code to direct repair technicians.
1977-1979 Tech Writer/Engineer Litton Data Systems Melville NY
In this capacity, I was hired to write technical manuals and documentation for military and aerospace equipment. My engineering skills improved their designs so I was moved into engineering positions and attained a senior level design engineering role very quickly. I then designed hardware and software for military and defense systems. Litton is a defense contractor. When the company moved to Maryland, I didn’t want to relocate so I moved into writing High Tech articles with Hearst Publications. I moved to the engineering department here and worked at the MSEE level as a senior design engineer.
1979-1983 Technology Editor Hearst Publications Garden City, NY
In this role, I would research and write highly technical articles for Hears publications flagship technology publication, Electronic Products Magazine. My beat was Integrated Circuits and Computer Aided Design and Engineering. I would be highly trained on all the latest technologies, then do actual designs using the latest tools and write about if from an engineers perspective. I designed microprocessor based systems, printed circuit boards, and custom chips (ASICs) as well as writing about design for manufacturability and design for testability.

In this role, I would be a technical asset to the sales department. I would travel to companies up and down the east coast and Canada to meet with leading edge engineers. It was my responsibility to find out what problems they were trying to solve, and come up with creative solutions and tech them the latest technologies that used products that were on the line card for the distributor or manufacturer’s Rep I was working for.

In this capacity, I engage with customers to write technical articles, blogs, manuals, presentations, commercial screenplays, promotional materials, marketing materials, white papers, and more.
I also performed freelance design engineering work for industrial and military applications including designing medical devices under DARPA contracts to diagnose and help wounded soldiers heal and recover. I also generate web content including articles and blogs.
