RESEARCH

GEOCHEMICAL MODELING. My geochemical modeling experience includes the following: analytical, finite-difference, and finite element modeling of diffusion in crystalline solids; dissolution-, diffusion-, grain-boundary, and precipitation-related modeling of element exchange and stable isotope systematics across multiple phases; major and trace element modeling of polycrystal-polymelt-fluid interactions in magmatic systems and polycrystal-fluid interactions associated with dehydration and rehydration reactions along subduction zone interfaces; and modeling the evolution of radiogenic isotope systems. I have also modeled field, geochemical, and other relations in complex geological terranes in the Snake River Plain magmatic province (ID), Centennial and Henrys Mountains (ID), and the East Tintic Mountains (UT).

GEOCHEMICAL EXPERIMENTATION. I have built, run experiments in, and maintained 1-atm furnaces (0- 1300 C) and cold-seal hydrothermal and piston-cylinder systems (1-4 kbar, 100-1100 C and 3-30 kbar, 300-1200 C, respectively). GEOCHEMICAL ANALYSIS. I have used and interpreted data from the following analytical instruments: X-ray fluorescence spectrometers, X-ray powder diffraction spectrometers, scanning electron microscopes, electron microprobes, ion chromatographs, and petrographic microscopes. I have also prepared samples for and interpreted the data from the following analytical methods: natural remanent magnetization analysis (alternating-field and thermal demagnetization), radiometric isotope analysis, stable isotope analysis, positron annihilation spectrometry, neutron activation compositional analysis, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, Rutherford backscatter spectrometry, and transmission electron microscopy. More broadly, I am familiar with experiment design and implementation, instrument setup and calibration, and data processing and interpretation (including error analysis).
