Received artwork from customers, inspected & made edits to make it print-ready.

I would make various edits necessary to make artwork print-ready for our digital and offset printing presses. I used all manner of techniques in the Adobe Creative Suite to accomplish this.

Imposition

Laid out customer artwork on large sheets according to press specs for the most optimal usage of time and material. I used Kodak Preps & Kodak Workshop software to accomplish this.

Proof Generation

Generated digital and physical proofs of customer artwork for review and approval. This involved using Adobe Creative Suite, Kodak Software & large format proofer printers for checking content and color. Physical proofs were folded by hand if needed and either cut out by hand or on an industrial cutter machine.

Managed Pre-press Department

I Oversaw the Pre-press department with 2 employees under me. I taught them the ropes and offered assistance whenever necessary. I created a binder full of valuable info for new prepress employees. This made onboarding new employees far faster and easier on everyone in the shop.

Custom Die Creation

Created custom die files for artwork, that needed embossing/debossing, foil stamping, spot uv coating, and custom cutting. These files were used to create physical dies that applied these requirements on to the final printed piece.

Proofer Maintenance

Did light maintenance on Canon Pro-4100S & Epson SureColor P9000 large format roll proofers. Kept inks and maintenance cartridges stocked and created simple How-to guides on how to operate and maintain these proofers.

Customer Communication

Occasionally met with customers in person to discuss requirements & edits made on artwork. Sometimes even translating for Spanish only speaking customers.

Archive Maintenance

Maintained a massive archive of previous print jobs ran at the company spanning back over 20 years.
