Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist
a) Provides professional and courteous service to all “customers” of Ogden Clinic. b) Transmits lab orders generated in the EMR (eCW) by providers or the providers staff to the LIS(Orchard) accurately and efficiently.
c) Understands and has knowledge of proper phlebotomy procedures to obtain samples from patients of all age groups.
d) Labels specimens and requisitions appropriately. a) Properly handles ambient, refrigerated, and frozen specimens b) Able to recognize all specimen types
c) Compares the name and other identifiers on the LIS label, verify all names/identifiers match. d) Properly labels each specimen(s)
e) Properly handles specimens requiring transfers to other laboratories f) Labels appropriate tubes for pour offs at proper temperatures with requisitions e) Observes principles of data security and patients, co-workers, and other health care professionals. f) Transmits results via an interface or automatically by a testing instrument. g) Performs waived (ESR’s, urine chemistry dips, whole blood mono’s, rapid strep screes, RSV’s, urine HCG’s, INR’s, and fecal occult blood tests) moderate complex (CBC with automated differential, serum hCG, and influenza A and B) analytic processes without direct supervision. Uses routine and specialized automated and non-automated laboratory procedures and/or techniques for which I am qualified, trained, and demonstrates competency according to established lab standard operating procedures (SOPs). h) Adheres to all safety policies and regulations including, but not limited to, proper dress code and using proper protective clothing and other safety equipment. i) Excellent follow-through and seeks guidance or clarification when needed. j) Proficient in reading and interpreting documents and has a good knowledge base of lab tests and specimen requirements.

g) Cleaned and straightened entire supplement department at end of shift to get it ready for the next business day.
