I hold 10 NATE badges and am a current or former member of IHACI, RSES, and ASHRAE.

Able to confidently and skillfully work on virtually any type of equipment - even that which I have never seen or worked on before - and can confidently search for and find information pertaining to the installation and servicing of anything, even equipment outside the HVAC and plumbing industries. Also able to confidently communicate with engineers and technicians in controls and IT.

Well versed in the controls comm protocols (BACnet, ModBus, N2 & LON in particular) and networking setup and troubleshooting. WORK EXPERIENCE:

Serviced, repaired, maintained and installed all types of commercial, industrial and residential HVAC equipment and controls over a career spanning two coasts and the South over 40 years.

Specialized since 1991 in large and small data centers, computer rooms, IT, frame and phone rooms, Liebert, Compuaire and Data Aire systems including chilled water systems of the 80’s and 90’s.

Experienced in fabrication, installation, repair and troubleshooting of duct systems.

Specialized since 2004 in solving BMS programming and operational issues with multiple systems, working with the proprietary servicers, programmers and installers as amicably and efficiently as possible to resolve warranty and non-warranty control problems.

Was the go-to tech from 2008 to 2018 for all of Cox Communications San Diego critical facilities control issues, programming, troubleshooting and monitoring, vav and humidifier servicing and repair, Intellipak and Voyager issues even with Trane SD – and now ACCO –as their primary contracted servicer. I became very proficient with their I/NET7 software and CSI (TAC) hardware – and then their StruxureWare (EcoStruxure predecessor) system – that also monitors and controls their -48vdc power plants, UPS systems and diesel back-up generator systems, among other things. I work closely with our (BCM and then CCS) Retrofit dept to resolve ducting issues within the MTC’s. From 2016 to 2018, I was also handling controls, duct re-design and other systems for Cox’s Orange County critical facility sites.

Was the go-to tech for all things difficult, delicate or unsolvable at BCM for my ten years with them (2003-2013) and then at CCS (2013-2018). I have been the one to come to if no one else has or could be successful. I was also the technician of choice for project managers, foremen and customers alike.

A company man in every sense, I follow procedures, paperwork, safety, customer relations and other protocol and requirements. I am loyal, adaptable, flexible, teachable, coachable, approachable, professional and reliable. I thrive on learning and am always looking for new ways to learn new skills or information.

At BCM I had 3 managers in 10 years. At CCS I had 8 managers in 5 years. I learned to adapt for success.

While at Comfort Systems, I held the position of HVAC Service Field Supervisor and have managed a team of 8-14 techs, doing annual reviews, coaching and taking disciplinary actions when necessary. I have also hired and fired technicians.

At Certified Air Conditioning, I became Distech certified in Tridium Niagara AX and N4 and gfxProgramming and Controllers; I led a team of 3 to 6 techs, hired and fired multiple technicians, project-managed multiple controls projects throughout Southern California, managed subs and built two Distech Controls panels from demolition to completion including all wiring, mechanical repairs, programming, graphics, etc., for two large central plants.

I have had large customers like Cox Communications, Inc, that have followed me through 3+ company changes.

I have been in charge of as many as 12 technicians and have offered support remotely or in person. I was in charge of disciplinary actions, reviews, performance increases, etc. At Phil Finer Refrigeration, I had 3-6 technicians that traveled the country doing installsand start-ups of my programmed controllers, offering them additional programming help and tech support at all hours of the day.

In late 2020 I started my own company doing HVAC controls, programming, low voltage installs (conduit and cabling), etc., while working part time for a friend’s HVAC construction company as their service manager & consult.

In March of 2021, shortly after receiving my contractor's license in CA, we decided to move out of CA to the Nashville area of TN. Prior to coming out, I applied to and was accepted at Johnson Controls where I worked full-time as a senior controls service technician for two years. I serviced a number of hospitals and other large facilities in the Nashville area.

I now run a small controls department (CMS Controls) at a mechanical contractor (Demand Mechanical) in Nashville. I do everything from sales, surveys, estimating, engineering, installation, commissioning, and warranty work. I also consult with four different world-wide consultation organizations (GLG, Guidepoint, AlphaSights and Arbolus). WORK HISTORY:
