As an Associate Technical Director at La Jolla Playhouse, I co-lead the Scenery Department under the direction of the Technical Director, supporting the engineering, drafting, and technical construction of scenery (built, purchased, rented, or otherwise) for all productions produced and presented by La Jolla Playhouse, including festivals and special events. Grew the Show Imaging Fabrication Department from the ground up. We started in a 1,000 SQFT room within the main production shop and have since moved into our own standalone 12,000 SQFT Fabrication Facility. Managed and scaled up a team of fabricators and scenic artists to complete a myriad of shows and events throughout the United States. Clients I have developed scenic fabrication for includes but is not limited to, Apple inc., PepsiCo, Inc., Kellogg Co. (Cheez- its), Petco Park, Amazon Inc. (Audible), University of California San Diego, University of California Los Angeles, BMW Group USA, and Frito-Lay North America (Coachella). Provided all construction draftings as well as facilitated all the budgeting and estimation for every scenic element that was fabricated within my department. Supervised a team of design professionals and onsite vendors in entertainment equipment installations, specializing in new builds and retrofits within Carnival Cruise Line Ships for prominent entertainment consulting and lighting design firm. Responsibilities included project budgeting, research, and sourcing; technical design; comprehensive site studies; client engagement; database management; and on-site commissioning to ensure efficient project execution. Key Accomplishments:
• Successfully led organizational team in comprehensive and challenging theatre retrofit on 21-year-old ship within three months of hire.
• Completed the commissioning of Mardi Gras in December 2020. This is Carnival Cruise Line’s largest and most technically advanced ship in their fleet.
NBC UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOLLYWOOD • Universal City, CA • 6/2013 to 1/2019 ENTERTAINMENT PRODUCTION TECHNICAL MANAGER (1/2016 – 1/2019) Served in multifunctional supervisory role, technically directing park-wide special events and entertainment projects within Universal Studios Hollywood’s Venue Support Team. Numerous responsibilities included: preparation of scopes of work for project bidding and contracts; technical design; comprehensive site studies; liaison with local county officials to facilitate approval and permit processes; project scheduling; vendor management; quality and safety assurance; production team support; and personnel vetting and management.
