Radiation Therapist
The highlight of my career life! I adored this work. Radiation actually cures cancer as the energy beam strikes the cancer cells and either annihilates them or cripples the ones it hits; and the cancer cells do not know how to repair. The normal cells that happen to get in the way do have the intelligence to repair. Every body tissue has a radiation limit and when this tolerance is respected, radation is safe as the tissue is then capable of total repair in that area. Every patient typically arrived at the clinic for about 6 weeks on a daily basis, so relationships were formed. It was an incredibly rewarding experience. I worked in several clinics, but the highlight of my career was in a small clinic in a Russian neighborhood in Brooklyn, where the patients loved me, and taught me to speak Russian, and claimed my hands were “gold”. I will never forget those days. In a clinic in the Bronx, I learned a lot about the spirit world. The veterans became very attached to us (the therapists) because a lot of them were traumatized from combat, and many did die from their cancers. And quite a few had a very specific way to return to the cllinic on the day that they died to say goodbye that we all witnessed. We did not see a ghost, but we got a definite sign, several times, that we could not deny.
Supervising Secretary

I began as a medical secretary assisting the office manager (we became great friends, God rest her soul); I took a sabbatical some time inbetween when I had my son in 1982.
