Cover Letter
The combination of my strong social work skills and sports involvement from childhood as a player to adulthood as a coach and athletic director, leads to a well-rounded sports social worker. I received my master’s in social work in 2019, my certificate in Sport Social Work in 2023 and my Doctorate in Healthcare Administration in 2024.
I began working with athletes and increasing their performance in 2013 as a coach at the recreational league and promoted to an AAU coach. In 2014 I began to assist with the development of the North Carolina Youth Athletic Conference (NCYAC) and provide consultation to staff on topics, created presentations, presented, and created a follow up process for the program. I also provided secretary work for NCYAC which included writing grants, applying for permits and accreditation, and accomplishing all administrative duties of completing the annual conference. I also performed duties of the athletic director and created conferences and rosters and substituted for coaches in their absence. I then began to work with athletes assisting in decreasing symptoms from mental health illnesses and academic and family stressors in 2022. I have continued to work with athletes at their desired facility, in home, or via telehealth using CBT, DBT, EMDR, and other modalities to increase performance and motivation. I also provide presentations to local schools and athletic groups pertaining to athletes and mental health. With experience as a substitute teacher and an adjunct professor I am able to provide athletes with education related to healthy psychology and emotional intelligence.
My personal strengths include dedication to the athlete and mental health as well as being a leader, an excellent communicator, a motivator, a problem solver, and a change agent. I plan to bridge the gap between students and their mental health and long-term success. I am a passionate and empathetic social worker that can implement programs that will lead to a well-rounded athlete and prepare athletes for ending their athletic career.
I would welcome an opportunity to speak about how I can contribute my skills to your program. Should you require any additional information, you can contact me at the phone number listed below.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Brief Statement
Voice Up’s mission is to connect people to purpose. I plan to use the five core principles to implement new and innovative programs. I will collaborate with the athletes, students, stakeholders, and the athletic leadership to gather insight and understand the athlete’s needs. Providing tools and skills while also meeting the athlete where he or she is and tailoring the presentation to include several perspectives will display humility. After assessing the athlete’s performance and mental health I will focus on addressing the complex issues with precision. Understanding that the program and the athlete require time to increase effectiveness’ and performance will allow for me to display patience and encourage athletes to problem solve and display forward thinking. As a former athlete and coach there is an understanding of an athletic mindset and experiences therefore, I can provide empathy at all stages of an athlete’s career and educational process.
Facilitating the athlete’s purpose and engaging in development is at the forefront of my plan. I will communicate and involve community partners and experts in future planning and development of programs. As the owner of a business, I am well versed in the creation of a company and in assisting individuals in finding their purpose which involves self-understanding and reflection. I plan to fully execute Voice Up’s mission and prepare strong athletes, entrepreneurs, and leaders.
