My passion for audio and video technologies stems from my love of cinema and art. My goal remains to be an integral part of an innovative environment where I can learn new skills while sharing my vast experience through organization, efficiency, technological know-how and creative solutions. These assets come from many productive years I have spent using audio visual technology in productions ranging from museum lectures and corporate events to live entertainment and interactive art exhibitions. I additionally possess extensive knowledge and experience about projection, fully versed in both 35mm and 16mm archival procedures for analog as well as the most current digital configurations with special skills for mobile events and unusual formats.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Encore Group Event Technologies (PSAV)

(February 2024 – present)

Contracted Audio Visual Technician and AM/PM supervisor who plans and supervises setup for large scale presentations and ballroom events, overseeing the maintenance and inventory of all A/V equipment, operating live sound and video for all events, set up and breakdown for a wide variety of programming using digital sound boards, 8K digital projection, Powerpoints, wireless audio systems including lavaliers and handhelds, LCD wall technology and complex lighting arrangements.

California Academy of Sciences

(November 2019 – September 2022)

Audio Visual Technician with responsibilities that includes maintenance and troubleshooting all exhibits including at the Planetarium. The interactive nature of these exhibits enlightened me by revealing how this technology can positively include all the visitors to the institution.

de Young/Legion of Honor (January 2018 – August 2023)

Audio Visual Technician with duties that include the set up of installations, PowerPoint, KeyNote, lectures, presentations, live music, award ceremonies and video and film screenings. This experience was foundational in that I learned the intricate workings of an art museum and how my acquired knowledge of the collection facilitated my concept of how art should be presented and understood.

Asian Art Museum (December 2017- January 2023)

Audio Visual Technician with multiple responsibilities for presentations that require installation, PowerPoint lectures, live audio, tours, VR Zoom Conference systems, as well as setting up and running award ceremonies and screenings.

The Vortex Room (2008-current)

Owner, event producer and creator of this renowned unique alternative cinema space and music site, currently seeking a venue. Using my extensive archive and library of 16 and 35mm celluloid films, I created programmed events that celebrated the beauty of cinema and the power of artist-run spaces.

Encore Event Technologies (2010-2017)

PM Lead Technician, running all the audio-visual needs for conventions, including PowerPoint lectures, presentations, events, weddings, award ceremonies, conferences and screenings. Independently contracted for work at the Hyatt Regency, San Francisco, I was responsible for over twenty meeting rooms and two ballrooms, with multiple daily setups using the latest in digital projection systems, theatrical lighting, state of the art sound systems, Crestron, Zoom Video Conference systems and computer interfaces including Crestron Control screens that combine and separate Meeting Room/Ballroom house sound system and lighting grid.

The Werepad (1992-2007)

Innovator and creative programmer for this underground cinema and music venue that originated SimulVision and the SuperTrash movie poster archive. For 15 years, my collaborator Jacques Boyreau and I ran this alternative space and promoted film screenings, as well as producing and making numerous feature films on 16mm with the proceeds under the company Massacre at Central Hi/Cosmic Hex Film Productions.

American Audio Visual (1998-2008)

Audio Visual Lead Technician for the Palace Hotel, Fairmont Hotel and the Ritz-Carlton, all in San Francisco, CA. Similar duties as experience as with the above Encore position.

Landmark Theatres (1988-1997)

Projectionist at UC Berkeley Theater (1988-1991) and Opera Plaza Cinema (1991-1997).
