Delivered bootloader for all IOTG projects. Led the team to develop Slim Bootloader to satisfy IOTG customers. Slim Bootloader is an open-source boot firmware, built from the ground up to be small, secure and optimized running on Intel x86 architecture.

Software Development Manager

Oversaw all planning, scheduling, development, execution and reporting activities of a team of 29 including a manager with 9 reports. Development of Bootloader, BIOS, VBIOS, Security Firmware / Software & Platform Controller Hub Firmware.

Lead the team to deliver Bootloader for IOTG platforms. Ran the Bootloader CCB and Sysdebug meeting. Provided leadership and guidance for all Bootloader customer requests and issues and then assigned associated priority and resources for implementation. Project managed Bootloaders to meet programming milestones.

Managed the IOTG BIOS team through a first line manager. Delivering BIOS for all IOTG platforms.

Drove team to participate in Coreboot Open Source Community. Hired an FSP developer, trained him with FSP & Coreboot background. Guided the developer to implement Coreboot Upstreaming Process. Drove Baytrail Gold3 Coreboot changes into Coreboot Master Branch.

Managed Firmware Support Package (FSP) development team for Internet of Things Group (IOTG). Intel FSP is designed to support any boot loader in the market, including proprietary and open-source boot loaders. FSP has become the industry standard for Open Source community to develop any bootloader.

Leadership Pipeline Development: Continuously grooming Team leads to be the next Architect or manager within the organization. Successfully placed several individuals in such leadership role in EPSD.

Software Development Practices: Led the BIOS & Bootloader team to achieve “Doing Level” maturity for the Software Development Practices to improve the quality of our code.

Site Manager for Engineering Services & Android Engineers: Provided local management support for two Engineering Services employees and one Android developer. Assisted them with their career development plans, provided management type pass downs, and involved them in team building activities so they had a sense of team inclusion.

Managed Security Software team. Lead Software development team to develop Security features. Team implemented security features like Measured Boot, Verified boot for IoT platforms. Run Security development & Sysdebug meeting to drive team to meet their milestones.

Lab Manager. Took over management for three SW labs in CH for PED. Maintained Lab1 HVI compliant and the labs were incident free.

Capital Budget Owner. Took over the Capital Budget Management for PED SW. Collected capital equipment requests and oversaw capital budget spending for PED SW team.

BIOS Development Manager

Successfully delivered Reference BIOS for 45nm Penryn & Nehalem Processor. Delivered industry first 6 Core 45nm Penryn & 6 Core Nehalem BIOS collaborating with China & India Intel BIOS team. Currently leading a team to deliver reference BIOS for next generation 8 Core MP Server based on EFI based BIOS.

Led Budget forecasting for entire Silicon Software Organization of around 50 BIOS engineers. Worked with First Line managers and forecasted budget for next 3 years for 2008 Plan Refresh Cycle. Experienced in forecasting Head Count, Big Ticket Item, Capitol & travel for entire Software Stack development. Successfully led 2006 planning activity for Enterprise Platform Software team & Enterprise Silicon Software Organization.

Delivered BIOS for 1st Quad Core MP Processor: Led the BIOS team deliver complete BIOS for 1st Quad Core MP platform (Clarksboro/Dunnington) 3 weeks ahead of schedule. Reviewing/approving BIOS requirements, forecasting resources, publishing detailed week granular schedule and finally executing to development plan. Drove the team to deliver complete BIOS well ahead of schedule.

Delivered Software stack for Twin Castle based 4P Enterprise Server: Managed Enterprise Software team as Software Platform Development Manager (Second Line Manager) reporting to ESD director while my manager was on Sabbatical. Managed entire Software Stack for ESD platforms which included BIOS, FW, Utility and Intel Server Management Software. The size of the team was roughly 50 employees. Conducted Mid Year Performance Review for his direct reports of around 35 employees. Led the team to a successful H800T power on through SRA (Ship Release Approval).

Developed BIOS Automation tools: Managed BIOS & Firmware validation Team while the validation manager was on sabbatical. Led the team to develop BIOS & Firmware Automation tool which would improve quality and reduce defects by at least 25% by detecting issues early in the development cycle.

Delivered 1st EFI based Enterprise Server BIOS: Led the team to deliver the First Enterprise Platform (Harwich) with EFI BIOS. Successfully managed Harwich (Twin Castle/Tulsa based 4P Server) BIOS development in 6 different sites to meet SRA milestone. Was also responsible for overseeing FW & software development at Bangalore Design Center, India.

Software Quality Improvements: Initiated Root Cause & Corrective Action Forum to improve the quality of EPSD BIOS & FW. The forum included team leads & managers from BIOS, FW and Validation teams, TME and QRE. Reviewed critical learning from the Harwich (Twin Castle/Tulsa based 4P Server) postmortem. Completed corrective action plans for more than 20 key issues and updated the L2/L3 checklists so that the same issues don’t repeat on future platforms. Received special EPSD Division award for improving Quality & Software Development Process.

Vendor Management: Supervised 19 AMI Engineers for Enterprise Platform BIOS team. Chaired weekly AMI / Intel Platform Development Team Meeting to resolve critical AMI blocking BIOS issues in Enterprise Platforms. Arranged quarterly face to face meeting with AMI. Presented EPSD roadmap to AMI. Published AMI resource plan for 2004. Shuffled AMI resources as needed to match program needs. Provided constructive feedback for improvements. Managed AMI budget for about $2 million dollars for all the 19 AMI engineers.

Hiring Coordinator for EPSD BIOS Team: Chaired Hiring meeting committee and coordinated hiring for all EPSD software teams. Setting up phone screens, on-site interviews, running interview wrap up meetings and making the final hiring decision. Successfully hired around 10 software developers for EPSD in a year.

Delivered 1st Blade BIOS on schedule: Developing BIOS for the first Blade product made by Intel with collaboration with IBM. Worked with AMI to make McCarran BIOS look & feel like IBM BIOS.

Delivered BIOS for Intel’s first 64-bit architecture Workstation: Worked extensively with Microsoft for getting IA-64 architecture supported in Windows XP. Drove the team to deliver the first C based BIOS called Kitty Hawk to production.

Managed offshore development with KDC (Samsung) & Quanta: Successfully developed Bryson (Plumas based platform) BIOS with KDC. Trained KDC developers with EPSD BIOS features. Supervised KDC to deliver BIOS as scheduled.
