Deep experience with all backup and recovery solutions from all industry leaders supporting on prem, cloud and hybrid environments: have architected and managed the implementation of backup solutions supporting operational recovery as well as disaster recovery and ransomware recovery with helping the organizations develop the recovery planning and process under extreme disruption following a ransomware incident.
Data protection solution delivery: lead architect and delivery manager of backup, replication and archival solutions for multi-million dollars enterprise clients in utilities, pharmaceutical organizations and financial sector. Also, I have architected the disaster recovery infrastructure of a major trading platform including mission critical application, network, system and storage. Review data protection strategies for a New York based insurance provider: Lead the design and architecture of an airgap solution to protect the organization’s IT assets including mainframe, iSeries and pSeries, and x86 to complement the ransomware preparedness and enhance the ability to recovery from all sorts of ransomware events.
Data center and disaster recovery consolidation and migration to AWS: Lead architect for a major pharmaceutical company needed to consolidate over 31 data centers within the USA. Led the data center consolidation to two data centers at the east coast and west coast with a single disaster recovery datacenter from cloud provider which has resulting in a major in reduction of more than 35% CAPEX and OPEX.
Review and architect ransomware recovery capabilities of a leading Silicon Valley technology provider: Lead the assessment of the organization and its subsidiaries data protection capabilities and ransomware preparedness to provide roadmap to remedy all identified gaps and ensure safe recovery of source code and business data in the unlikely event of a ransomware incident.
Review data protection strategies for a southeastern insurance conglomerate: Lead the assessment of the organization’s data protection strategies and technologies spanning mainframe, iSeries and pSeries, and x86 to complement the ransomware preparedness and enhance the ability to recovery from all sorts of ransomware events.
Leading the development of IOT edge offering: Collaborating with Dell and hyperscaler to deliver a world-wide implementation of edge technology for manufacturing locations across the globe while developing IOT edge strategy for power and utility industry, healthcare, and financial services.

ERP migration for a leading fertilizer manufacturer in the west and its international offices in Canada and Australia from In House to cloud: Assessed current ERP infrastructure that comprises of proprietary Unix platform and formalize a s strategy to migrate to Infrastructure as a Service from a leading cloud provider.
Assessment of On-Prem Environment to Build a Business Case for GCP Cloud Migration for a Major Beverages producer: Analyzed the Architecture of Current the client multi- site multi-country presence to qualify the right cloud platform and the migration plan to improve the total cost of ownership of business applications including multiple ERP instances.
Architect and build ransomware air gap solution for a major power and utility in US: lead the ransomware risk analysis effort that may impact the delivery of power to millions of consumers in East USA and implement the selected air gap solution to protect multiple environments and enable safe recovery of consumer and business data.
ERP migration for a major manufacturer in from their owned New York data centers to a hosting provider in North Carolina: Led the effort to assess the current SAP ECC infrastructure and associated eco system to non-disruptively migrate the whole environment to the hosting facility in Kings Mountain NC.
Business Continuity strategy for a major healthcare provider in the Northeast: Lead the technical dependency analysis and business continuity strategy for a three year roadmap including application tiers, application dependency, recommendations around replication technologies.
Big data analytics design and build for a multinational accounting firm: Led global enterprise architecture for big data analytics transformation initiative. This large program effort included traditional and emerging (e.g. Hadoop) vendor’s big data solution architecture, evaluation process, solution architecture development including platform/application, infrastructure and security layers, proof-of-concept workshops and partnering with a leading Hadoop provider for platform delivery.
Storage strategy for major healthcare provider in the North East: During the business continuity strategy, Mounir has uncovered a major disconnect between the virtual environment and storage management where the client was missing in depth understanding of storage utilization and reporting resulting lots of storage waste. Upon completion of the assessment, the client was able to recover multiple unreported storage space and was able to control the excessive storage spending and associated replication licenses.
Disaster Recovery assessment for a Caribbean healthcare provider: In order to meet the healthcare industry compliance requirements, the organization needed to review its ability to recover in case of a major incident, Mounir has provided current state assessment for the DR program and roadmap to remedy all uncovered gaps to meet compliance requirements.
Storage strategy and architecture: Lead architect for a major media and entertainment company needed to transform and consolidate their data storage environment. Developed the storage consolidation strategy and architecture for multi-Petabytes of various storage platforms SAN and NAS including EMC (VNX, VBLOCK), HDS TagmaStore and storage protocols such as iSCSI, NFS, FC, FCoE and InfiniBand. Also, managed all the technical analysis and total cost of ownership.
Content management application profiling: Lead architect and project manager for a global financial company needed to consolidate applications and improve performance. Led the applications profile analysis and rationalization that resulted in right sizing of Documentum application supporting infrastructure. Also, managed to improve application performance within the context of network performance for users spanning from Japan, Australia, US and Europe by implementing Riverbed WAN optimization solution.
Developing technology transformation roadmap: Sold and delivered multi-Million Dollars storage infrastructure transformation roadmap service a New York based global financial organization. This effort required us to directly interview clients at all levels to determine data growth, current storage and data protection technologies and classification tools and methods would work most effectively in their unique environment. This was a major consideration when creating storage technology roadmap and determining at what pace the client could accept change. We layered implementation and migration of storage and data protection technologies which led to a successful transformation. I also advised the IT leadership on changing the data protection technology and deploying WAN optimization to manage the challenging backup window and application response time.
Archiving platform migration: Managed the efforts to migrate fifteen years of financial archive for a Japanese financial institution in UK from legacy mainframe platform to near line open platform with scalability to support future growth with no disruptive forklift upgrade.
Disaster Recovery as a service for Batelco (Bahrain): I led “disaster recovery as a service” initiative for the Bahrain telecom operator to sell, build and co-lo the DR infrastructure for the major enterprises including banking and oil sector operating in the Persian Gulf.
SAP infrastructure Disaster Recovery build: Managed the risk and business impact analysis, delivery and implementation of a disaster recovery for an ERP infrastructure for one of the largest US oil and petrochemical corporations operating in Kuwait.
SAP infrastructure build: Managed the sales, delivery and implementation of an ERP infrastructure for one of the largest US oil and petrochemical corporations outside the US. Led the effort for implementing multi-Million Dollars of infrastructure technologies, this project was then complemented by the building a disaster recovery data center.
Stock Exchange data center build: Project lead for multi-Million Dollars data center infrastructure for a major national stock exchange in the Middle East. Led the design, and implementation of the data center server and storage solutions for the entire environment. The solution included technologies such as Unix Clustering and host-based Symantec Veritas Volume Replicator.

Big data and cloud storage: Lead architect for a leading healthcare organization needed to control data growth and reduce cost while offering greater capabilities and reduced downtime. Led the strategy and build of High-Performance Computing (HPC) storage solution to meet the extremely demanding and scalable requirements of “big data” deployment, IBM GPFS (General Parallel File System), and Lustre.
