Pharmacy Technician
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
Relevant experience has been gained through seven years of active pharmacy technician experience through Walmart and Sam’s Club while using the Connexus system. As a pharmacy technician with Walmart, I assisted the pharmacist in accordance with state and federal regulations while serving the patient professionally and accurately. My responsibilities included obtaining patient and prescription information, processing prescriptions, filling prescriptions in a timely and accurate manner, handling patient, doctor, and insurance phone calls, and serving the customer directly while maintaining workflow.
Further experience has been gained through almost 2 years of hospital pharmacy employment in which I maintain one-on-one interactions with patients while obtaining accurate medication histories. While not conducting medication histories, I also serve my patients through the accurate and timely completion of IV medication compounds. Within the hospital my main responsibilities include sterile compounding of intravenous medications and chemotherapy within a cleanroom suite, nonsterile compounding of various medications, medication fills to omni cells, the creation of multiple emergency medical trays, medication history consultations with patients and community pharmacies, handling phone calls, and several other responsibilities that serve the needs of both hospital and cancer center patients.
