PROFESSIONAL

SUMMARY Up and coming geologist seeking to acquire additional expertise in the field, namely with paleontology and vertebrate evolution. Over the course of my academic and professional career, several skills have been instilled within me such as multi-tasking, communication and cooperation with others, problem solving, and especially quantitative reasoning. As a geologist, I find complex spatial issues intriguing, while my experience with high level mathematics has taught me to exercise patience when faced with difficulties. The experiences I have acquired over the course of my education and in customer service has molded me into a person that values organization, cooperation, integrity, honesty, knowledge acquisition, self-improvement, and above all else, efficiency: I never stop working until a job is completed correctly.

OBJECTIVE

Acquire an entry-level position as any type of geologist.

●Basal Mineralogy

oIdentified 30 minerals for a research assignment.

oMemorized chemical formulas of earth’s most common minerals such as olivine, plagioclase, and orthoclase.

●Structural Geology

oDetermoned the Baraboo Syncline in Baraboo Wisconsin to be the result of a doubly plunging, south-verging syncline through map analysis skills.

Created 18 stereonets while working through my Structural Geology course at CMU to solve problems relating to strikes and dips of different geologic features such as beds and strip mines.

●Sedimentology/Stratigraphy

oCan identify parasequences in subsurface imaging.

oFound out seven types of depositional environments, purely off of strat columns for a research assignment.

oSuccessfully determined four of some of the most common sedimentary rocks such as sandstone, mudstone, conglomerate, and breccia several times in the field..

●Subsurface/Petroleum Geology

oEntry level experience with trap identification in subsurface imagery.

oWorked with at least 20 well logs in a classroom setting.

●Field Geology

oAdept at working with a Brunton compass; used a Brunton dozens of times in a classroom and practical setting, such as during Field Camp when I was required to find the attitudes of geologic beds multiple times.

oSmall amount of experience using a Jacob’s Staff to determine the apparent surface thickness of geologic beds.
