2010 – 09/24/2020 (RETIRED) DOUGLAS COUNTY COLORADO: ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: PARKS, TRAILS, & BUILDING GROUNDS. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT Due to economic and political factors, several Departments and Divisions within Douglas County were combined in 2010 to form a single larger department, I currently serve as one of the two Assistant Directors reporting to the Director of Community Development. In addition to all of the responsibilities of the Parks, Trails, and Building Grounds Director listed below, responsibilities now also include senior participation in the development of departmental policy and interaction as well as playing a significant role in daily planning decisions and activities.

2008 – 2010 DOUGLAS COUNTY COLORADO: DIRECTOR – PARKS, TRAILS, AND BUILDING GROUNDS DIVISION
As a functional Director in one of the fastest growing counties in the country, provided progressive leadership and direction to team building, all planning activities, design, construction, maintenance for the Parks, Trails, and Building Grounds Division of Douglas County. Responsible for the preparation of annual budget and allocation of funds. Participated in the development of the Parks, Trails, and Open Space Master Plan. Direct contact with the Douglas County elected officials. Provided public presentations and Board of County Commissioner updates. Participated interdepartmentally as a member of the Community Planning and Sustainable Development Management Team. Oversaw the realignment and reconfiguration of the Parks, Trails, and Building Grounds Division into the present Department/Divisional format
2000 – 2008 DOUGLAS COUNTY COLORADO: PARKS AND TRAILS PLANNER - PARKS AND TRAILS DIVISION
An administrative position. Responsibilities included, but were not limited to long range planning, contract administration, project management, budget preparation, construction inspection, land negotiations, interdepartmental staff reviews, public meetings and presentations, presentations to Commissioners, interagency staff reviews, and planning. Was the staff representative and worked with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on T& E issues and permits. Also coordinated planning with three Federal agencies, three counties, three state parks, five cities and two special districts on the development of a cohesive parks and trails plan for Douglas County. Also served as the department representative on two county boards and one special district. 1998 – 1999 CITY OF LOVELAND, COLORADO - PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT SENIOR PARKS PLANNER - An administrative/planning position, responsible for but not limited to: final design on parks and trails projects, project management, construction inspection, land negotiations with owners on purchase of trail corridors, staff representative on City of Loveland conceptual and developmental review team, and contract management for a wide range of parks construction projects. Worked closely with Larimer County, City of Fort Collins and Boyd Lake State Park on the development of a regional trail system.
1989 – 1998 CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO - PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT SUPERINTENDENT – PARKS PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION
An administrative/planning position, responsible for long range and project planning, detailed design, contract document preparation, bidding on and administering contracts, inspection, and interdepartmental reviews in one of the fastest growing communities in Colorado during the 1990’s. Responsibilities also included dealing with the public daily and facilitating a variety of public meetings. Also functioned as the acting Parks and Recreation Director when the Director was out of the office. Worked on the development of a continuous trail system in both Louisville and the region. Worked with other trails planners in Boulder County on the development of a county wide off-street trail system. Coauthored the City of Louisville Parks Mater Plan and Open Space Master Plan. Major projects: Louisville Sports Complex, Davidson Mesa Trail, Federal Wetland Mitigation, Annette A. Brand Park, Louisville Arboretum, and the Coal Creek Trail.
Received the 1994 National Sporting Goods Association’s National Gold Medal Grand Award – Parks and Recreation Management Class IV
1984 – 1989 CITY OF BOULDER, COLORADO - PARKS PLANNING DEPARTMENT PARKS PLANNER A planning position, responsibilities included, detailed design, contract documents, contract administration, and project administration. Major projects: Boulder Creek Trail, Boulder Creek Fish Observatory, and Coot Lake Wetlands.
