Beau Rivage Casino and Hotel — ADA Bathroom Remodel My second internship with Yates came with many responsibilities relating to both the project management and superintendent aspect. This was a great opportunity for me to understand the relationship between a project manager and superintendent. I was given my own tasks to complete which involved communicating with electricians, communicating with Beau Rivage management to ensure certain rooms would be vacant, and overseeing the labor to ensure quality and report documentation back to the owner. I believe getting to work with Architects and ADA requirements was a necessary hurdle to experience in order to understand the process and importance of laws and codes.

In January of 2024, my team was tasked with transforming the former Poker Room at the Beau Rivage to a seafood restaurant with a full kitchen, oyster bar and view of the Gulf. This project entailed a full “gut” of the 8,000 sq ft area, a concrete pour of over 1,000 feet of line from our pump truck due to operating in an active casino and included an expansion of the kitchen that was not formerly in use. With a very aggressive schedule of fifteen weeks, my team was able to turnover this project early with no additional time given from change orders to give the Beau Rivage their desired time before opening to the public to train their staff. This was an all around challenging project with many changes in the field resulting in an organized documentation system and knowing the importance of communication between all key players on a project from trade partners to owners and architects.
