Managing the house Float Pool under the nursing administration. Working with the clinics maintaining coverage for short staffing and house needs. Work with AcuStaf to maintain the schedule for 28 employees. Work with payroll biweekly to maintain timecards and ensure timely pay days for all employees. Continue providing education for the clinics in the facility to my staff to maintain proficiency in the clinics they are providing care for. Rewrote the orientation packet for my staff and used it for the Six Sigma Lean Yellow Belt project. Submitted to VISN. Maintain the employee 6-part folder and continue with their E-Performance and evaluations. Work closely with all departments to ensure standards are maintained for all employees under my direction. Maintained the contract nurses for the facility when there was a nursing shortage and worked with those 49 employees along with maintaining my own staff. Ensure that all staff adhere to the policies and procedure required for each clinic they work in. Wrote the new SOP for the Float staff to follow to maintain their eligibility to work as required. Working with the float team covering the shifts for the Covid Swab clinic and the Covid vaccine clinic. Scheduling, pulling licensures, maintaining the education on all float employees. Started RN Care Manager in Primary Care on the Purple Team for the Veterans, making sure the needs of our Veterans are taken care of for their health care and managing the connection between the Veterans and the VA. Ensure the physicians have what is needed for the follow up visits, hospital discharges, vaccines, answering the phones and fill in where needed. Injections, EKG, check in patients. Working closely with the UPL manager and educating the staff in the facility on the equipment needed to provide care and safety to our veterans and guests.
I had the privilege and honor to deploy to Detroit with the DEMPS team when Covid-19 started to shut everything down in April 2020. I was there for a tour of one month and enjoyed every moment I was there, helping and learning the VA way. I have volunteered to help with the nursing education and check offs for the facility. I also volunteered to help screen the veterans at the front for Covid-19, worked in the Vaccination station for Covid-19 and we were the first to sign up for the trial of Vaccinations for Covid-19 on the third floor in Primary Care. I have also continued with my education here at the VA and taking Supervisory classes to help myself and improve my work here at the VA.
