PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Ford Motor Company - Remote 06/22 - Present
Monitoring and Observability engineer
Ford Motor uses Netcool as the monitor of monitors for its alerting and correlation logic. Alerts are gathered from more than 30 different sources. The alerts are available for operator review from several Netcool displays. Alerts are also sent to Service Now for ticket production and management. Most of the logic for Netcool is implemented in Impact Policies. I assist in the maintenance of those policies.
In addition IBM Tivoli Monitoring (ITM) is being replaced by Dynatrace as the EMS monitoring all Netcool servers. I implemented the Dynatrace monitoring for the Netcool servers. This monitoring sends alerts to Microsoft Teams Chats.
Served as tech lead for the migration of Netcool Alerts from BMC ticketing to Service Now ticketing.
Designed and helped implement storage of WEBEX conversations in a Large Language Model which are accessed by CHATGPT. The purpose of this was to capture all the “tribal” knowledge contained in WEBEX conversations between team members and a retiring team member.
Charter Communications - Greenwood Village, CO 06/21 – 06/22
Netcool NOI Engineer
Charter Communications provides internet connectivity nationwide. They use Netcool, CA Spectrum, Datadog, and OP5 to monitor over 400,000 endpoints in their nationwide network. I worked as a Netcool engineer changing the Netcool configuration rules on a weekly basis as new equipment is added and old equipment is deleted. I was also am part of the on call rotation for problems that come up out of business hours.
CLS Bank (Contracted by IBM) – Remote 01/21 - 06/21
Netcool NOI Engineer
I worked on a sustainability team to monitor the servers and network for CLS Bank. They handle a large portion of the funds transfers between several different currencies. This is a 24/7 multi site installation using various IBM tools to guarantee maximum availability.
Harris - Melbourne, FL 09/15 – 09/20
COGNOS Reporting / IBM ITM / IBM Netcool Engineer
I worked as an SME for Netcool/Omnibus V7.4 and Tivoli Common Reporting/Cognos 10.2. These products are being used to monitor ground stations for weather satellites which were flown as part of the NASA/NOAA GOES-R weather satellite project. The ground stations process data streams that are analyzed and sold to various customers as products. Some of the SLA requirements for these products are in the 5 second range.
