2.PEPFAR Dreams Program Coordinator United States Agency for International Development (USAID)

Dreams is an initiative aimed at reducing new HIV infections among adolescent girls and young women in sub-Saharan Africa. In Rwanda, DREAMS empowers young women (15-24) through comprehensive interventions. It includes reproductive health care, violence prevention, HIV testing, community mobilization, and support for families.

Main duties Performed:

●Providing overall strategic direction for the program, keeping abreast of global policies and priorities. Advise Senior Management and leadership based on this knowledge.

●Advancing ongoing direction and leadership for program operations, ensuring efficient and effective program implementation.

●Managing program design, planning, monitoring, reporting, and communications activities while addressing technical, financial, and operational concerns by collaborating with team members and program managers and directors.

●Leading engagement with the Government of Rwanda (GOR), development partners, civil society, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and coordination of DREAMS program activities with national HIV program priorities.

●Coordinating USG PEPFAR support to GOR efforts related to AGYW, GBV prevention, norms change and multi-sectoral gender-based violence prevention response.

●Monitoring and analyzing data trends, refining programs based on local and global evidence, and documenting and disseminating program successes.

●Designed a USD $75 million Orphans and Vulnerable and HIV prevention Program for Adolescents and young women (2022-2026), implemented in five districts in Rwanda.

●Certified USAID global Positive Youth Development Trainer – Conducted two International trainings and several local trainings to USAID staff, Government and Implementing Partners.

●Provided key technical advice for creating the first-ever National Adolescent Girls and Young women program guide. (now embedded in the National HIV strategic Plan)

●Received the PEPFAR program Gender-Based Violence Prevention Award at the PEPFAR AIDS 2022 Awards Ceremony in Montreal, Canada.

●National HIV program pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) Trainer – Conducted multiple trainings for Implementing partners

3.Program Manager - Public Health Specialist Centers for Disease Control (CDC)

June 2017 – May 2021. Kigali, Rwanda

As a Program Manager - Public Health Specialist at the CDC, my role was to oversee and manage the implementation of the HIV Prevention program.

Main duties Performed:

●Monitored progress of programs, using and applying programming documents, program directives, funding documents and other program resources and tools.

●Coached team members on new PEPFAR strategies, policy updates and performance improvement plan to accomplish project goals.

●Oversaw project Grants Management while addressing and resolving technical, financial and operational concerns by working with team members and funded partners.

●Monitored grants awardees budget execution against targets, approved work-plans, reviewed progress reports while implementing course correction.

●Met with different host Government and civil societies, implementing partners and other stakeholders on a regular basis to assess progress and adjust.

●Launched new HIV prevention activity in 19 Health Centers and gathered functional and business requirements to support program and mitigate risks leading to national program scale-up.

●Led the development and rollout of a nationwide HIV Index and Partner Notification services program, training over 350 healthcare providers.

●Co-led the implementation and development of the pilot Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) program, leading to country-wide scale-up.

Grants Management Officer at the CDC, my role was to oversee the management and administration of grants within the organization.

Main duties Performed:

●Provided Budgetary, Financial and Administrative oversight and leadership in the management of the CDC funded awards of $31.1 million in Cooperative Agreements, direct Grants and Contracts ensuring effective and productive partnership and quality deliverables.

●Maintained close watch on financial and operational performance of different funds and made proactive adjustments to keep portfolios in conformance with approved plans benchmarks and targets.

5.Research and Evaluation Assistant Centers for Disease Control (CDC)

Research and Evaluation Assistant at CDC, my role was to support research and evaluation activities related to public health programs.
