Assigned as Driver/Operator responsible for major firefighting equipment supporting fire suppression efforts to protect life and property of base personnel, structures and multi-million-dollar aircraft. Performed rescue operations during vehicle extrication and structural responses, coordinated search efforts, provided escape routes, and facilitated mitigation. Trained and certified other fire department personnel on all the assigned fire department vehicles. Also was assigned Lead firefighter responsible for crews engaging in structural, rescue, hazmat, and medical incidents. Led attack crews during structural and wild land firefighting operations, controlled and extinguished exposures/fires, and ensured crew accountability and safety. Led rescue crew members in Basic Life Support efforts, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and patient evacuation. Instructed firefighters in all facets of fire protection to include, emergency first aid, tactics and strategies, aircraft egress, and aircraft arresting systems. Certified in confined space advanced rope high angle rescue. Operated structural and aircraft live fire training facility for base, local, and state departments. Performed duties as safety officer for interior and exterior firefighting crews. Conducted quarterly hood and duct inspections, issued welding permits, building and safety inspections. Instituted GIS Fire Department Layer that allowed instantaneous floor plan changes to be made to 260 base buildings. ADPM coordinator for “B” shift flightline certifications. Respiratory Protection monitor for “B” shift, performing annual testing of all MacDill SCBA packs, masks, and harnesses. Written Standard Operating procedures on Firefighter Personal Protective Equipment and Driving Safety. Created 724-page Pre-Fire Plan book distributed to all Fire vehicles. Education
