WASTEFUEL GLOBAL, LLC November 2021 to August 2023.
Senior Project Manager
Developed a process patent to convert biogas from the organic fraction of MSW via anaerobic digestion, wet/dry methane reforming and custom sized methanol synthesis to maritime fuel grade methanol for this startup. I developed a process patent (in conjunction with co-workers) to produce maritime methanol fuel from the organic fraction of Municipal Solid Waste MSW via anaerobic digestion, biogas cleanup and compression, wet/dry methane reforming and a custom sized methanol synthesis (100 metric tonnes per day). My part of the work included evaluation of the biomethane potential for a variety of feeds to anaerobic digestion, extensive evaluation of separating food waste (digestible material) from MSW, processing the food waste into digester feed, selecting a sustainable digestion process for a variable high nitrogen feed, and setting the parameters for the digestion process, and predicting yields of methane from anaerobic digestion fed separated food waste. Obtained quotes and delivery from vendors to develop a cost estimate for the process. Work also included pyrolysis to convert digestate from the anaerobic digestion process to char suitable for carbon sequestration. Supported global development of MSW and biomass projects in the Philippines, Thailand, Uruguay, Mexico, Dubai, UAE, and Kuwait. Work included primarily scope development, technical evaluation, cost estimation and project economics.
