Paula Salgado, a gerontologist that has a passion to bring new ideas to communities to help retain caregivers and put in new programming for seniors to be independent. When I opened my own private senior care, I developed a brand-new unique program for people with dementia to help them stay more independent. Dementia patients I had on my program achieved independence. As a Gerontologist, I advocate for seniors on healthy nutrition, and I also would love to see them get the best care possible. For years I have always volunteered at various nursing homes, and I always wanted to be in that field. Even though I have a master’s it has always been my passion to work in memory care, be an executive director, or a program director. As a Gerontologist I can also work in advocacy roles and advocate for the seniors. As a Gerontologist I can work in government, research, program manager, program coordinator and advocacy roles. As a Gerontologist, I can also be in the health and wellness field. My masters gave me more knowledge to do the job correctly. Even though my master’s is in Gerontology I have worked with special needs children for 10 years. The experience that I have working in treatment centers is volunteering for one year at an ABA clinic. With a Master of Science, I can work in the Technology industry such as Cyber Security. My training in my master’s program involved learning technology to help the public. My plan is to take more classes on Cyber Security and to get certified.
