Servicing (2) New projects within the US.

New Acquisition Recycling Plant: Pre-Acquisition Due Diligence Team, Operations Lead Implementing: Increase Production, Company Integration, Process Improvements, KPI and Lean Manufacturing Implementation and Equipment Expansion.

General Manager: May 1997 – April 2023

Ravago - Major Plastics Distributor - Houston, TX

Team Member of the largest Plastics Distributors in the US and Europe.

GM for major plant distribution facilities in Houston, TX

Total oversight of all site functions - quality, production, shipping logistics, supply chain, payroll, employee evaluations, cost savings, productivity, and project management.

Oversee Fleet Drivers, DOT inspections, state, and federal laws for Houston Distribution.

Implement capital projects for cost savings.

Manage railroad, fright, and logistics related tasks. Over 300 rail cars manage logistical needs over North America.

Manage inventory / warehouses throughout Houston on behalf of company owned inventories and reconcile monthly to financial accounting inventories.

Focal technical person for polyethylene / polypropylene formulations for all commodity production facilities throughout the company.

Oversight of customer services and liaison to sales.

Interface daily w/ sales and marketing in business development and routine needs.

Responsible for resin formulation and design specifications.

Evaluate cost, marketing and inventory strategies for sales and purchases.

Oversight of all technical issues regarding product lines.

Total oversight of resin inventory matters including scrap and resin blending.

Manage approximately 30MM lbs. of inventory daily, with shipments and receipts on average of 1MM lbs. per day.

Team Member in the engineering, design and build of 700,000 sq. ft. building w/ 57 silos, 200 rail car spots and associated equipment. The largest of its size in North America.

Responsible for facility P&L. Reporting to Corporate V.P. of Operations for all North America divisions.

Accomplishments as General Manager (Ravago):

Ravago purchased Rapid in 2007. All Sr. & General Management did not make the transition.

Appointed as the GM for the Houston facility in 2007.

Completely re-designed facility model. Reduced headcount from 120 to less than 30 in 2 months.

Implemented numerous costs saving projects increasing capacity and capability by 100%.

Current staff today are slightly under 50 w/ double the volumes & strong very profitable P&L.

Safety & Environmental implementations dramatically increased our ranking today to impressive staggering measurements.

Built and increased laboratory capabilities that measure up to most if not all major plastic producers in the U.S.

Implemented Lean Manufacturing principles. From 7S to Six Sigma.

Certified Six Sigma Black Belt.

Implemented Operation Clean Sweep. Customers & suppliers often comment "this is the cleanest plastics facility I / We have ever seen".

Recycle Plastics Leader: Jan 1993 – April 1997

Dow Chemical Co., Plastics Division, Freeport, TX

Supervised and directed routine and non-routine activities of the Recycled Plastics organization in support to the Polyolefin’s businesses.

Team Member for ISO implementation for Recycled Plastics

Leveraged the capability of Recycled Plastics for the protection of Polyolefin’s markets.

Participated in the Polyolefin’s Supply Chain link for production, customer services, research and development.

Identified potential sources, evaluated suppliers technical and business viability, coordinated supplier qualification process, developed supplier relationships, negotiated contracts.

Developed economic models in order to understand the profitability of thermoplastic recycling.

Technical and working knowledge of PE, ABS & PC recycled materials.

Was an active voting board member of the Association of Post Consumer Plastics Recyclers (APR).

Quality Assurance Supervisor: March 1988 - Jan 1993

Dow Chemical Co., Polyethylene II Manufacturing, Freeport, TX

Directed 5 hourly lab operators and indirectly supervised 70 production operators and managed all laboratory functions.

Implemented ISO program for plants.

Responsible for all product quality after production was complete, ensuring our customer base received the product quality specified.

Responsible for the compounding operation, consisting of three 8-inch extruders, material handling system and associated silos.

Environmental contact, responsible for all emission, waters and associated reporting.

Implemented several cost saving projects in the material handling and packaging areas.

Implemented capitol project to build a new laboratory and equipment for the department.

Implemented capitol project for new continuous on-line melt flow instruments that directly impacted the quality of the product produced by a reduction of 2 sigma.

Quality Assurance Technician: Nov 1985 - March 1988

Dow Chemical Co., Polyethylene Quality Assurance, Freeport, TX

Responsible for daily analysis in the laboratory.

Implemented temperature control and measurements on the melt flow instruments, improving the consistency of their performance.

Safety contact for the department.

Implemented and perfected an instrument used for counting imperfections in polyethylene film.

Mastered several different lab analyses associated with the manufacturing of polyethylene, polycarbonate, and ABS products. Listed: melt index, melt tension, MWD, DSC, FTIR, film fabrication, gel counting via laser technique, density, moisture, ash, additive standard preparation, tensile, flex, izod, injection molding and several wet chemistry analyses used for the testing of different catalyst and raw materials used in the production of plastics.
